Thank you for the instructions. When I turn on the meter with the dial in the 12:00 position, the meter display reads 1. Testing between the two spades, the meter reads .27. Between each spade and the ground, the meter stays at 1, so it does not change.
Ok... I have purchased a multi meter, but I have to confess... I have no idea how to use it or how to conduct those tests...
The instruction manual is kind of useless.
This is the meter I picked up from home depot...
Hello, My name is Seth. I have been lurking on this forum for a little over a year. I live in the Orlando, Florida area and purchased my first smoker (an MES 40) about a year and a half ago from Sam's Club.
I love to cook, grill, bake... I like it all.
I purchased the smoker because I...
I bought the circuit checker and believe it or not the outlet tested fine. I did not buy the volt meter as I was not sure what kind to buy, plus I was not sure I wanted to make that investment, not knowing how expensive it would be.
I also bought a 12 gauge extension cord. I have not tried to...
Thank you dvdslw! Nice to hear from another person in the area. I did end up at petty's for a brisket i did last month. Went to Walmart, Costco (south orlando) public, and Sams. Not one had a packer cut! On top of that petty's was $5 per lb! Seems high compared to other folks i talk to...
The GFCI is on the outlet not the breaker. I will have to pick up one or both of those gadgets to check things out further. I was able to run the smoker all day on an outlet on another circuit, but, I had to string two extension cords together to get to that other outlet and I know that is a...
Thank you for all the good thoughts. I am able to use other devices on other outlets that are on the circuit, but I will test that outlet directly with the hair dryer. I do not have a digital volt meter, but will look into getting one! An excuse to buy a new toy!! Yea!
Ran two extension cords (which i know you are not supposed to do) and tried an outlet inside and it seems to be working. Doesn't make me feel very confident, but at least i am on my way for now.
I woke up good and early to start some pork shoulder to have for the long weekend. I have a MB 40 that i bought from Sams about a year and a half ago.
Every time i turn it on, it trips the GFI switch. I tried plugging direct into the plug, switching extension cords, switching outlets, and...
I have an MES 40 so I can can only be at 250 to 275. I have two 13 lb birds, one brined one with rubbed with Tony Cachere's inside and out. Since i have a lower temperature, any ideas what I can expect for a cooking time? Also, any recommendations for shelf position, I know its a bit hotter...
