I had grates from an old grill that I had a friend cut & weld together for me, I wanted to see how they would work before I have a stronger shelf made for me, but so far it has worked well, it gives me more cooking space & different temp zones from top & bottom
I just did a rack of ribs, a pork loin tip, a spatchcock chicken, rib trimmings, & 6 sausages & still had room for more but I built a shelf out of old BBQ grates that sits about 4 inches above the regular grate & that worked out great

I live in a split level, & I made sure the signal would reach my bedroom, lower level family room, & garage. I forgot about it when I went for the mail & I got a low temp alarm so I had to go back & throw another log on the fire
I have the Tenergy, it has 6 probes , & a free app for your smart phone. I've only used it twice but so far so good. I got it at Amazon for under $60. from what I read they have good customer service with free probe replacement. I figure I couldn't go wrong for the price & if it last me a couple...
My wife picked up a 3 lb bone in pork loin tip, can I treat it like a small butt & inject it, rub it & through it on the smoker until the I T comes up to around 200* or is there anything special that has to be done. I plan on seasoning it Saturday afternoon & smoking it Sunday morning for Sunday...
