A very sensitive but respectful discussion today. There is a reason I like this forum and I appreciate everyone's input. As Americans we need to start asking a lot of honest questions, and one of those questions was posed with this thread--as a nation can we truly afford to continue to...
Sage, sage, and more sage! That will be great for your thanksgiving turkey, so save it. With the lack of sun, there is no guarantee anything I planted up here will grow. If I get r-berries, the birds might likely get them before me but I'll do my best to shoo 'em off. No bounty is...
Good to see you are still awake after a good smoke. I am new at this too. I survived four being pulled just fine. Still a bit sore and out of painkillers but I will make it. I hate dentists/oral surgeons! (the only profession with a higher suicide rate than lawyers is dentists--have you ever...
Wow BBQG, that looks amazing! Didn't you just have a wisdom tooth pulled last Friday? Looks like you made a quick recovery. Beautiful Q-view. Glad to know you recovered. Welcome back!
Hey Coyote, no need to worry about finding the recipes on the web and sharing. All that matters is that you found something great and shared it with the rest of us to try. I'll let you know how the ribs turn out when I get around to doing them. Good weekend and good smoking to you!
I should mention that I saw that your recipe is for pulled pork, but I want to try it on ribs anyhow. If you think that is a disaster in the making, let me know! Thanks.
I'm back after about a week of misery and having four wisdom teeth pulled (pain killers are a good thing but eating soft food stinks! I'm starving!). I celebrated feeling better last night by buying a couple racks of baby backs that were on sale at the supermarket (and some beer too!). I...
Dave, I am a Washingtonian and I have seen a couple of others around here as well. This is a great place full of terrific advice and friendly people. I've been around for a just a couple of months on the site and am hooked. I read all the time and post when I can. Good luck with your smokes...
OK. I have put it off for years and was supposed to do it last week but changed the appointment so I could at least have the memorial day weekend for a smoke (did chicken, it was great!), but tomorrow AM I am finally getting four impacted wisdom teeth extracted.
I am not fishing for sympathy...
Brandon, good luck with the ribs. You're gonna get hooked on the hobby and if you spend any time around here, you're gonna get plenty of good suggestions, support and brutally honest feedback. Have fun!

Hey Bubba, I had to move the ECB to the back of my lot (the "woods") after some neighbor complaints on mothers day. I should take better care of it, I know, but what the heck, it's an ECB, right?
Just moments ago we had a big wind come up and knock a huge branch (about a 35 footer) off of an old alder in our back yard. It totaled the bird bath and a couple of feeders but missed my ECB by mere inches! Here are some pix. Looks like I will be cutting up some alder for the wood pile. I...
Up in my neck of the woods, I seem to only be able to find cowboy at Lowes and HD. I have experimented with mixing it with kingsford charcoal and have been fairly satisfied with my smokes. The pieces are definitely small though.
I guess not using any other product, I don't know any better...
This is the funniest thread I have read in a long time. Very good looking food, and a fine lookin' fatty as well. I would have paid good money for that back in "high" school.
Did a marinated tri-tip today for mother's day. While I was getting the coals started, the neighbor came over to complain about the smoke, noting that last weekend when I smoked there was a "smoke smell" all day. I said, "well, isn't that a good thing?" She didn't think so, so I apologized and...
