That is what I thought about doing. Maybe some JBweld, I am going to read to see what temp it will accept. But for $20 I could set an alum pan it the water bowel and use it. The thing looks like new.
I just bought a Brinkman charcoal smoker for $20 only used once. Friend had it and hated fooling with it to keep heat up so I offered him $20 and he yanked my hand off. He had the water pan and charcoal pan backwards so there is a small hole in the water pan now that I am going to have to fix...

JTR does the smoke box you have made a shelf out of get hot? That is a good idea, biengs it was tooooo small for the perpose it was made for... I use an 8x8 alum pan, it seems to get smoke quicker. I had a skillet before I switched to the pan...
Eric that is a hard question to answer I think. They tell ya to steer away from chared or burnt foods I know (my wife is a cancer survivor too) because she lets me know evertime I grill something ... I dont know what she is insuating.........
Different smokes fer different folks... Do you want to tend it all the time or sit and let it go??? That will make the decissoin as to what kind you will buy. I have a GOSM propane and it is great " set it and forget it" LOL... It is a good smoker and it dont break you up buying it...
You got it Gorilla, put in it what ever you got roll it and smoke it (Fatty that is )...... You'll luv it, heck make 2 or three with different stuffings, I promise there wont be any left overs....
Dito what Eric said. I have the wide body and I dont soak the chips, I just put in alum cake pan and cover with foil and 2 -5 holes and off off and away we go. Smoking in less than 3-4 min.. You'll luv your GOSM dmack it will become one of your best bud's ...
Well I havent made it yet, I just got it but if it is like theres at the restraunt I luv it.. See I am not as knowledgable on these topics as you all are, I'm still learning. Like using the gelatin from the drippings (great idea) see what I learned from just posting that recipeeeee.....

Here is a recipe that is from a Local BBQ place in East TN, I havent made it yet I just got it on email. If it taste like theres it is a winner. Just thought I'd share..

2/3 SMALL BOTTLE TABASCO SAUCE

Mine is propane and yes I get smoke rings. I like it because when you open ther door you dont have to worry about the temp, as soon as ya close it back presto you are back to your cooking/smoking temp again... I am fixing to get a ECB and play with it too, it is smaller and a charcoal. hope this...
