A Flock of Chickens - Qview

Well, with Saturday being a beautiful day, and a whole day of outside chores planned it seemed like a good day to do up a batch of yardbirds.  I put the word out to the family and friends and chickens started showing up around 9:00.  By the time I lit the fire at 11:30, I had 7 victims lined up...

Hey Al We save the chicken chasing for Mardi Gras!   Until then, it's just the boring, easy to catch grocery store chickens.

Yard Bird.  Whenever I do chickens, I put the word out among the family and friends and people start dropping chickens off.  I'll probably have about 8 birds on tomorrow.  If I have any rack room left, I'll probably do a rack of spares too.  TripleB - Have you done one of those prime briskets...

    I need a fryer.

+1 on the Cajun fryer.  My brother has the patio model and it is flat out awesome.

    Another Sunday RIbs with Qview

It's the funniest thing.  The finest smoked ribs in the world that have a little tug to them are inedible to most females (at least the ones at my house).  Conversely, you can take ribs and boil them in mop water, slap a little sauce on them and if they are falling off the bone, they will rave...

I need a good thin BBQ sauce recipe

I'm lazy when it comes to sauce making.  I just take standard off the shelf bbq sauce and thin it out with apple cider or red wine  vinegar.  The favorite combo at my house is Sonny's sweet cut with red wine vinegar.

    Dinos and a Brisky

Sweet looking cow!  I normally get tired of leftovers after a few days but brisket is one of those things I can eat over and over and over til it's gone.  Great job.

    Beef Fajita's

I always thought of fajitas as a fast and hot thing.  I'll definitely have to try the low and slow version.  Post up a tutorial the next time you do some please!

When/Where did you get your FIRST taste of REAL BBQ?

I grew up with my dad cooking burgers, chops, chicken etc... on the ole charcoal pit like most folks.  But what really captured my attention was my neighbor building a metal lean-to out of roofing tin with a wood fire going underneath it and hanging a whole hog up and cooking it for 24 hours. ...

    Diabetes and a little help..

Congrats man.  That low carb diet is the real deal.  I am lucky not to have the big D, but I have dropped about 30 lbs over the last year cutting out the sugar and starches.  Any diet that lets me eat ribs every weekend is A-OK with me.

Todays smoke!! Whole bird and a few ABTs..with Q-View!!

Good looking bird.  Is there a reason you cook it breast down?  I always do mine breast up, but i don't have a particular reason for doing it that way.

    Oklahoma Joe @ HomeDepot

Mal, I was in the same boat as you not long ago. I looked at all of those smokers at the big box stores, and I just couldn't make myself pull the trigger.  The quality just wasn't there and I knew I wouldn't be happy in the long run. After doing a bunch of homework, I had a smoker built by...
