An armadillo egg is basically the same thing as an ABT. But instead of wrapping with bacon you wrap it in sausage. Some people like to use a little bisquick in the sausage too.
Not at my Krogers. I just got back from there. Pork butts are $2.59lb and brisket (packers) are $1.69lb. Still cheaper than usual, but still too expensive for my wallet. I didnt look at the trimmed brisket cause I only do packers.
I wondered the same thing about those holes in each side of the smoker. I figured it was some sort of rotisserie attachment thingy too. I dont know where you live but the smoker gets even easier to use the hotter it gets outside. In the winter time here in TX I use an entire bag of charcoal on a...
I prefer bb's too. But they are $3.99lb here and spares are $1.99lb. More meat on spares. And like Rich said, trim them down to bb's and put the trimmings in Dutchs beans or chili.
Heres the pics of the finished product. Brisket came out good. At 15 lbs, its bigger than my cutting board.
Heres some slices off the flat.
I saved most of the point for burnt ends later.
Fatty was stuffed with jalapenos, onion, cheddar cheese and provolone cheese.
It still has 25 degrees to go. Then at least an hour rest. Then Ill slice it up and post some final q-view for yall. It sure is smelling good.
travcoman45, Yep Ive been watching that real close today. Theres a good 2ft. distance in between them though. But I have the water hose close by just in...
How do you like my new "As the wife says", redneck trailer smoker?
Its not really new, same ole smoker. I just wanted to smoke in the front yard today, to make the neighbors drool all day. And since I live on the corner and didnt want to drag it half way down the street, I loaded all my...
Yep, what he said.
Ill second that motion. However, I am down to checking on mine once every hour. When I first started smoking on it I had to babysit it constantly.
Good idea except for the foil. Its a waste of good foil. It'll keep falling off everytime you open the lid. Raise your charcoal...
Lengua tacos are very good. I had them while I was in Monterrey. I just thought it was a regular taco. I didnt know what I was eating until I was finished eating it. But then I went back for more the next night. I guaranty most, if not everyone here, would like it if they ate it and didnt know...
Yep, I agree. This is a good sauce. Very similar to the way my wife makes it, except she adds brisket juice. Makes it by the gallon.
I agree again. SBR's is way too sweet and too thick like syrup for my liking. If I am forced to buy store bought sauce, I'm a Stubb's man.
Very reasonable. I have done it that way many of times. Its cheating but I like to sleep too. I usually start mine around 5'ish and smoke it until midnight. Put it in a giant pan and cover with foil. Stab the thermo in it and set the temp alarm to go off at 200 degrees. Throw it in a preheated...
I dont have a picture of it. Im at work or I would snap 1 for ya. I used a flat piece of aluminum and hand rolled it into a cylinder, then stuck it in the smokestack from the bottom and shot a screw through the outside of the smokestack into the cylinder.
The charcoal tray acts as a baffle by...
I thought the same thing. I saw pineapple in the ingredients and said no way. You cant put pineapple in beans! Then after about 6 months of listening to everybody say how good they were I decided to try them. Best darn decision Ive made in awhile. Pineapple goes surprisingly good with beans. My...
