I fully agree about getting the 24 inch models. This last Wednesday I smoked 12 baby back pork ribs laying flat on the cooking grates at once in my 24" GOSM Big Block without having to cut them. I wish I could locate some of those rib racks that hold 6 rib racks for a decent price so I could...
I would consider the 24" Smoke Vault if I were storing my smoker outside under a cover hoping the heavier construction would last longer in the weather. Since I use a shed to store my smokers I got the 24" GOSM Big Block. After one year of about 10 smokes I have not had any issues and feel...
melh,
I researched the different electric and propane models before purchasing my Big Block.
ELECTRIC - What I liked about the electric models since they would not require trips to the propane store. What I did not like was the 110 volt models were of small capacity and some required...

I own the ET-7 and Big Block. I have only used the top vent on my Big Block to insert the ET-7 probes thru and never had a problem reaching the lowest cooking grate. There should no need to drill holes in your new smoker.
I believe Dutch may be talking about the Big Block GOSM. If he is, then I totally agree with him. Amazon.com offers it for $189 with free shipping. The Big Block is 24" wide insuring you have room to lay your briskets and ribs flat on the cooking grates. The Wide Body GOSM is 20" wide. You...
I also have the painted Big Block. With the stainless models your cooking grates, water pan, burner, and smoker box are not stainless. The way I figure it, with the painted Big Block you can keep it a few years and then start over fresh again with another new painted Big Block for about the...
Gunslinger is correct, there are several variables which determine at what temperature a container of water will boil at. Water will boil within 10 degrees of 212F 99.9% of the time. Who cares if your thermometer is off by up to 10F? Smoking food is not an exact science anyway. The variables...
Our local Wal-Mart and Sam's will allow you to pick the untrimed briskets you want and they will trim it following your directions for free. You only pay the untrimed price since they will use that sticker when they rewrap the brisket after they have trimed them. The only trick is to be in the...
I use to have the classic red Weber gas grill. After a while the hood had parts of the hood stained black beyond cleaning. I now only want black BBQ products.
