    Which wood to use.....

It is a fresh ham.  Not cured or precooked or anything.  Thank you for your input.  Since I've never smoked with apple or cherry I needed some suggestions.  It would have been nice if I had smoked with apple and/or cherry in the past so I would know.

    My first fattie! With QView

That bacon weave is great for the first time.  I've made @ 5-6 breakfast fatties(which I call double-bypass) and this last time was the first good bacon weave I did.  What kind of wood did you use?  I use hickory and mesquite.  This last time I used mesquite and I saw that it really penetrated...

Newbie smoker out here in Amarillo, TX

Welcome.  There are great smoking minds on here.  Ask lots of questions.  I have the larger GOSM that I got from Walmart a year ago.  You'll need to cure it first.  On the GOSM you will see where there's some smoke coming out the sides.  If you want to you can seal it up.  It doesn't bother me. ...

Cost of Smoking Pork Ribs Comparison

Wait for the sales and buy them in bulk.  I did my first ever baby backs because one of the local grocery stores had them on sale.  I buy drumsticks for 99 cent a LB and get 2 or 3 packages.  I buy baby backs for $2.99/lb and get 3-4 racks.  Then when spares go on sale get 3-4 racks of those and...
