Yip. gotto go low and slow and not let anything rush you. It is done when its done. It took me a long time to make my wife understand this. She doesn't even ask me what time are we going to eat anymore. We eat when its done.
It is hard to say for sure how long anything will take to cook. I can tell you I cooked a 125 lb hog this spring that I cut in half and it took about 14 hours. Hope this helps. Here is a link to my posts

I agree with the other posts except, since I cut some pretty large trees I cut them in 8 foot sections and then work up what I need to keep a constant supply of seasoned wood. This helps the wood last much longer without rotting.
I don't think it will make much differance. My big smoker is rectangular and it heats up and holds heat just fine. If you build it right it will cook as good as any tank build out there. Go for it.
