As Richtee said, the fatty makes a terrific snack. I usually start the fatties at the same time as my main meat and start slicing them up when they hit 160. They never last until the ribs are done. I also recommend that you do at least 2 fatties. I always throw on at least 3.
Welcome James. My suggestion to you is to watch Craigslist for the smokers that show up. I picked up an Oklahoma Joe's Vertical roaster with a propane burner in it from a guy in Scottsdale for $75 and an Oklahoma Joe's horizontal offset unit in Gilbert for $80. If your budget allows, Sportsman's...
This is one of the funniest things I've ever gotten in my mail. When I read it at work, I was laughing quite loudly in a very quiet room. For the full version of it, go here: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/Gun...c_ev=emailopen

Getting CampChef Smoke Vault 24 when we get back from San Diego in 2 weeks. Got to have something to take camping.
There's just a hole between the firebox and the main chamber. You could, however, raise the charcoal pan up to the level where it is above the hole and use it for a baffle. It looks like a nice heavy unit and should hold the heat well. Let me know if you have any more questions, I can go check...
I saw one at the Sportsman's Warehouse near me today for $350. It looks like a nice grill. For the most part, it is pretty heavy guage material. The crank-lifted charcoal rack would be nice for grilling and the firebox is a nice size. I would have been really interested, if I wasn't there...
I wouldn't bother pursuing this one. I picked up my Oklahoma Joe's that looks identical to that, with the exception of a burner in the firebox for $80.00 and an Oklahoma Joe's Vertical Roaster with a burner for $75.00 off Craigslist here in Az. You should be able to get a much better price than...
I've eaten at the Famous Dave's in Chandler and by the University of Phoenix Stadium and they were ok. The FD in Tucson was quite a disappointment. I'd much rather go to Rudy's in Albuquerque. Rudy's has always been great.
Pick up the lunch tray sized cut. It should be about 10-14 pounds. The one I tried, for my first brisket, was 11 pounds at $1.69/lb. It was only $18 or so. I used Jeff's rub and the Okie Smokie recipe and it camer out as good as or better than any brisket I've ever had. I seared it over charcoal...
For your solenoid, you can use a sprinkler valve. You can use it with the electric solenoid or modify it to use with an air trigger. How about a series of valves to meter your 'charge' of spritzing liquid and air and then a valve to fire and atomize it. An alternative might be to use some...
