We had that happen about 6 months ago to our Canon Powershot S1 IS that we bought back in 2002. I returned to the photoshop where we purchased it. Canon ended up replacing it with the Powershot S3 IS. It was a newer version with a couple of more bells & whistles. Worked out really well for us...
I picked up 3 butts at the Ames Hy-Vee last night average weight around 9 lbs. Total cost $27.54. Asked the meat man about baby-back ribs. They were $4.99 per lb. More than I was willing to pay. I can get them at Fareway for $3.77 per lb.
I like the Fareway meat counter. I buy most of my Baby-backs, spare ribs, porkloins, Whole T-bones & Whole Ribeyes at Fareway. As said earlier it is nice that they will cut it to order for you, but I have never seen pork shoulder/boston Butts on sale there. Hy-Vee is the only place I have found...
Hey everyone thanks for all that great advice.
One of the questions that I have been wondering about is "do I use sauce on the meat or not and if so when"?
Any thoughts?
Should I do the brisket the "old smokie" way?
I will be cooking chicken, brisket, pork butt and ribs.
I can cook the food I just don't want to finish last or embarrass myself and the folks helping me. I am hoping the competition cooks will share some helpful tips and tricks.
Are you willing to share some tips and secrets to help us wanabe competition cooks get through our first competition? Anything that would help us to relax and not make fools of ourselves or myself as the case may be.
Hey Smokebuzz,
Thanks for the info. It would be great to meet some of you guys in person. I doubt that I will be able to make it. That is the day I am cooking up a bunch of pulled pork for my church's fund raiser to send some of the high schoolers on a mission trip to Mexico. If I can get away...
Welcome HawkeyeSmoker,
As you can see I am also an Iowegian and located just a couple of miles up the road from you. I'm from the other side of the tracks (the good side) than most of the other Iowans on here. It gives them someone to poke fun at. Although this year it was a little more...
I found the answer to my own question. I knew I had seen this somewhere and thought I saved it but didn't realize I saved it on my computer at work.
I don't remember who posted it or developed it but I think it could be invaluable. So, a big thank you to whoever you are.
If the person that...
I have been asked by our church to prepare some pulled pork for a fund raiser event. Anticipating about 100 people . I am trying to figure out how much to prepare.
I thought I saw some information on a thread here a few months ago that provided that kind of info. If anyone remembers that...
Welcome to the forum from a Cyclone fan, a Hawk fan unless they are playing the Clones and a Drake Bull Dog fan. There is a lot of good information all over this forum so take some time and look around.
What do you pay for brisket in your neck of the woods?
Most of the time here in Central Iowa I have seen it priced at $2.99 to $3.99 per lb. I actually bought one Friday night at the Super Wal-Mart in Ames for $1.65 per lb. I am not real big on buying meat at Wal-Mart but I thought this was a...
I received both parts on Saturday. I was only expecting the finger guard since the shields were on back order.
I used this slicer last week on a brisket and set it to cut as thin as possible. This thing works great. A big thank you to whoever brought this great deal to the attention of the forum.
