    Pellet grill help!!!!! Purchase discussion.

I've had my Rec Tec RT680 for just over a year and couldn't be happier.  Excellent results with great temp control.  Can grill as well when you crank the heat over 400.  Best burgers I've ever had.  But if your cap is a 1000 then you'll be over when you include shipping unless your local in GA.

Who all has smoking plans this weekend? I do! I do!

Just threw on a couple racks of ribs.  I have 25 Jalapeños to cut and stuff for some ABT's.  Beans will go on the smoker later and then during the cookout today I'm smoking sliders and dogs and will have a ton of toppings for the guests.   Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!!

    awesome pellets

That mix are the only pellets I use now in my pellet grill.  Great smoke and flavor for pretty much any type of meat.

    What pellets with what food?

I use a good blend for everything.  Its a mix of Hickory, Oak, Apple and cherry.  Made by cookin Pellets and easily available from amazon with prime shipping.  They also have a 100% hickey bag as well.  Just make sure when you buy them to inspect that they are really !00% hard wood and not some...

Yoder, Pitt and Spits, trager, blazin... etc.

I've had my Rec Tec RT-680 for almost a year now and its great.  Built very well with a great warranty and it holds the temps perfectly at what I set it too.

Smoked my first pork butt...I give myself a C-

Sounds like everything was done right you just needed more time.  I always shoot to have it done sooner than planned as sometimes the same piece and weight can take such different times to cook.  Wrapping in heavy foil then putting it in a cooler with towels on top can keep it hot for hours.

    Pellets

I've been using cookinpellets brand off amazon.  Reasonably priced and 2 day free shipping with prime.  I use primarily the mix verison which works out great.

    Prime Rib New Job Celebration

Looks delicious.   I love this time of year.  The meat is really cheap.  5.77 for rib roast and 3.99 for NY strip loin roasts.  Time to stock the freezer.

Thinking about making the switch from wood fired smoker to a pellet smoker

I bought my pellet smoker back in May and could not be happier.  It really is so easy to use and i've never had any complaints from guests about the lack of smoke flavor.  I researched a lot and ended up getting the Rec Tec rt680.  Its large enough to cook a ton of food and reasonably priced at...

    Beef Summer Sausage

I agree with Al.....I've started taking them out after 6-8 hours in the smoke and finishing them in a pot of water held around 160 degrees.  It usually takes only 30 minutes or so to get to the 152.

    Pellet smoker or not?

I've had my Rec Tec since May and couldn't be happier its built very solid and keeps temps spot on.  I ended up getting rid of my gas grill.  I've been able to cook everything from burgers and steaks to pork butts and ribs and briskets.  I do have a set of grill grates that really help with...

    Pepperoni snack sticks

Thanks guys!! I will take a pic soon.  I tried it this morning and they taste nothing like pepperoni.   They taste just like my last batch of summer sausage.  So still very good but not pepperoni.  Anyone have a good pepperoni recipe that tastes like the kind you get from a good deli?

    Pepperoni snack sticks

I decided today was a good day to try some more sausage making.  I mixed 4lbs of 80/20 ground beef and 1 lb of ground pork.  Mixed in the seasoning and cure last night and let it rest in the fridge overnight.  I used a mix I bought at bass pro.  It wasn't just for jerky it had direction for...
