    New smoker

Got a new smoker yesterday. It's a Kingsford Sierra barrel smoker. I chose it because of its capacity. Might have to get a wood stove gasket kit for it. How do you upload pictures on this site?

Looking to Buy First True Smoker... Input & Guidance Appreciated!

Well, hang me for a horse thief. I got my start on a twenty dollar thrift shop smoker. Smoked my way into being the holiday cook. Anyway, I guess I'm trying to say, don't kick yourself over the one you didn't buy. The smoker he has is a good one.

    Grill choice

I've smoked and grilled meat for twenty years. With the Weber, it's easier to smoke meat. The Kingsford has a larger capacity and is a fine grill, but more of a hassle to smoke with. Anyway, on December 16th, my girlfriend kicked me out of the house and kept my 26" kettle grill that I had bought...

Looking to Buy First True Smoker... Input & Guidance Appreciated!

I would get a WSM for smoking chickens, turkey, Boston butts, ribs, but for quick grilling steaks or sheshkabobs and such, I would use a Weber kettle. Just my preference.

    Grill choice

I have approximately a hundred dollars to spend on a grill and have narrowed my choices down to a Weber 22 inch original kettle or a Kingsford thirty inch barrel grill. I like the capacity of the Kingsford, but want to use my grill as a grill and a smoker. Which one would y'all buy and why?

Using Weber 22 inch grill to smoke Boston butts?

Have anyone done this? I'm buying a Weber 22 inch premium grill because I can't quite swing a WSM at this time. Anyway, if any of y'all have some tips, it would be greatly appreciated.

New help picking my new smoker

Either option would be okay, but you probably would have to modify the Brinkmann, so option two makes more sense. Use one most of the time and when cooking for a crowd, fire them both up. Unless you just plain want a large smoker with an offset firebox. In that case, tell everybody to go to hell...

Any tips for a first time smoker?

Figure how much wood you plan to use, then use half as much. Thick billowing smoke is bad, you want a thin blue smoke. Also pecan wood is good for both chicken and turkey. Good luck with it.

    New 14.5 WSM

I'm thinking about a WSM later myself, but I'm probably going to get the 22.5. Gonna save a little at a time until I can get it.

    Baffle/ Heat deflectors

Which is the way it is. It's all about the allmighty dollar and some manufacturers don't give a rat's behind about quality as long as they make the sale.
