My wife has mastered the muffuletta, though I can't claim to know how she does it. It took her a few tries to really get it nailed down.
Oddly enough, one of the local ski hills always has muffuletta on the menu at the lodge cafe. They're actually pretty decent, even though the bread isn't...
Verry sorry to hear this. What hill was it on, if I may ask?
I've upped my ski time considerably since moving to north Idaho last year--5 hills within 90 minutes--but since I now qualify for senior ticket pricing, I'm becoming a bit more aware how quickly things can go badly.
Looks good, and you had me at 'simple'.
As a treat for my wife, and soon after she set me down to watch Julie and Julia with her, I made Boeuf Bourgignon exactly following the recipe Julia Child made famous.
It was REALLY good. And it must have taken six hours, with no down time There was...
2025 BBQ Bootcamp registration open now for gift certificate holders (you could still buy one and jump the line), and registration opens for everyone on Feb 8. These fill up VERY fast, so don't delay. They are excellent!
I've no affiliation other than being a very satisfied customer, and a...
The bagged party wings I usually buy say “Cook from Frozen” right on the package.
That said, I’m skeptical and have never tried it. I thaw them first, fridge or bowl of cold water.
I don’t get to a lot of concerts, but I did go see ZZ Top in Morristown, NJ a few years before my recent move to Idaho. Great show-I’ve always liked their stuff.
Coincidentally, my son—a guitarist--was passing through the passenger terminal at LAX just two days ago and he ran into Billy Gibbons.
Gotta have spaetzle! But boxed spaetzle, when you can find it, is expensive. Spaetzle makers are expensive
The first pic shows what you can do with a 99 cent plastic bowl from Walmart, and a drill press. Dump the batter in the bowl and use a spatula to work it through the holes into a pot...
Apple TV is opening up their entire catalog for free this weekend. Starting today, apparently. We plan to binge Season 3 of Ted Lasso and Season 2 of Foundation

I worked on a ranch growing up. One day the foreman, out baling hay, ran a skunk through the baler. Apparently it had been hiding in the windrow and got picked up by the machine.
We had to park that baler out away from the shop and barns for the rest of the summer.
Congratulations, @civilsmoker and @Rafter H BBQ and everyone else! Some fine entries.
With my humble entry in the mix, it appears Idaho smokers took 3 of the top 5 places!
(I knew entering a side containing Brussels sprouts would be too polarizing. Even I don't like them!)
I suspect the cheap ones are plenty accurate for our purposes; I would recommend one where you can select the emissivity setting. Some of the really cheap ones come pre-set to .98 or so, which works fairly well for measuring food temps, but if you need to measure the surface temp of other...
We just joined the vacuum sealer fan club. I got my wife a Nesco VS12 for Christmas--it always seemed to be in the top 3 regardless of what organization was rating vacuum sealers, and ATK placed it first.
So far, we've only used it to seal packs of leftover Christmas ham, but I can see it...
Malcolm Reed is sponsored by Blue Plate Mayo, so he talks it up on his podcast. I’ve never encountered it up north
Is it worth seeking out when I’m down south?
