    Cheap insulation for firebox

So I got the snake bars from a welder on eBay named “top notch welds.” I bought the pair and then messaged him with the specific size and width. With the dynamic-glow firebox being a bit small I wanted the width smaller and there to be more room to snake around. Honestly I can not recommend...

    Cheap insulation for firebox

I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Been busy and got caught up in life. There are my base bars that where modified to my specifications by a eBay welder. He did a great jobs son was fast shipping. Also is my finished welders blanket job. Not the greatest look but I am really...

I bought a set of maze bars from a great welder odd eBay. He actually customized them for me to give it more room inside the small box. I am actually insulating my whole dyna-glow this week to help hold temps so I can use them more efficiently. I will take pics this evening to show you them...

    maze bars for basket

I have already bought a maze set up but have not used it enough to honestly judge it here. Once I get a few more cooks with it in I will. Do you mind posting a pic of your set up?

time frame for smoking butt cut in half

The first part hit 200 and the second hit 195is, I think it was just to big of a slab of meat at point. But yes, if I had another 30 mins I think it would have been done. You live, you learn.

time frame for smoking butt cut in half

Thanks for the vote of confidence, and yes I learned a lot. It ended up taking about 9 hours. 6 1/2 in the smoker and the rest in the oven at between 315 and 375. I had wrapped it in butcher paper at 5ish hours and it worked well all the way to include the hour of rest time. It was a success...

As usual, you guys where correct. I hit the stall earlier on at around 150, and it stayed there for a hours. I just threw it in the oven an hour ago and raised the temp to bring it up before resting it. Soon!

    What is better to insulate?

That does look cool, I do not have that kind of room in my firebox. That is really cool concept, to bad you got rained on. So you got up too 300 with that type of setup? How much of a difference did the insulating do?

    What is better to insulate?

Wow that much of a difference!?! So I just bought these minion bars on eBay from an amazing welder who does it cheap, and even customized it for me to fit my firebox. I used them once but until I can get my smoker fully insulated I will not be able to maintain high enough heat. Maybe you...

    What is better to insulate?

I saw a video on youtube from a guy who used this stuff on his barrel type smoker and he was saying it worked wonders on heat stability and fuel. Hope it works out and please share your outcome!

    What is better to insulate?

Ok thanks. With that thought in mind, would it be best to insulate the furthest away part of the cook chamber as possible due to lower temperature range than the side closes to firebox?

    What is better to insulate?

Hello, I have the Dyna-glow wide body and have some insulation I can use to reduce heat loss. What do you think will have the biggest impact on temperature and fuel use: insulating the firebox or the smoke chamber? Thanks for the help!

Hello all, I was considering getting the lavarock maze bars for my basket to help slow down the charcoal burn rate in my dyna-glow wide body. One thing i noticed in them is there is a open space between sides (see here...
