    Wanting to build a yarkosmoker's fireplace/smoker

Good evening Tom. I have personally seen this before.  What an awesome build.   Very practical if you have access all the way round your build. I  googled and watched this build in a slide show to see how it worked.  Totally awesome! How deep?    The best way to know is to contact your local...

Brick smoker - Compete how to

I'm interested in what type of sealer you would want to use in food safe environment?     Block would make a build a lot simpler.   A few folks here  have tried a block smoker only to have moisture be a problem.   You have to drive out the moisture before you can build heat.  True, a large fire...

Brick smoker - Compete how to

I agree block absorb moisture and are not meant for heat.   I'm not sure you would  need all the layers of firebrick in a smoker.   Your max IT temp would be around 300F if your pushing butts.  Outside of that your IT temp is around 225 - 250  for  10 - 18hrs.    A oven would need the insulation...

Looks awesome Jim! Outstanding fab work on the flue out the back. I don't see any issues with insulation at all.   Once the heat gets to the flue its not doing you any good.   Look fantastic!

My new brick smoker... currently in building

I would probably leave them out and allow for a tighter fit.   My brother built mine with 0 clearance so I had no room for  a gasket.    When smoking I usually open the upper damper enough that I don't have smoke coming out the doors, that way I know I have a free flow of smoke.  The nice thing...

    Need help!

Good evening Travis, you came to the right place. First off it would be really helpful if you could post a couple pictures of your smoker. Secondly, if its a brick smoker with a rotisserie,  I'd love to see how its set up. If its truely a wood fired smoker, all you need is some seasoned...

    My last masonry build.... Oven

I'm really enjoying our oven.   It holds heat very well.   After a night of pizza the next morning I'm still at 400-450F   My bread making skills really do suck, but it is a cheap hobby to learn.   I'm determined to make it work.  As for pizza,   everyone we have entertained can't believe just...

    UK Build Ideas

Good morning! First off, if your just looking for a pizza oven just for pizza, you can make them much smaller then mine.   You can make them as small as 3 ft.x3 ft.   They heat up fast and cool down quick.   The only reason you would need something as heavy as what I built is for making bread...

    My last masonry build.... Oven

Thanks Blade.  I may take you up on that.   I've never done it before.  I remember my Mother making the best.  She only had a oven but it was so good.   Any leftovers she would make Cinnamon rolls.  They were just awesome!
