I would re-think the miter saw. They can be very dangerous when cutting "irregular" pieces of wood like fire wood splits. They are not designed for that but are for processed wood like a 2x4 etc.
They will work, but the issue is that sometimes they can "buck" when cutting splits which can be...
I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but there are a couple things that bother me too much about the Bell Fab's that stopped me from considering them when I was in the market. I ultimately settled on a Blue Smoke Smoker from Big Phil's which is another high quality 3/8" pit at a great price...
I do heated brisket rests all the time and they work great. I've done them in a Sous Vide at 141, and now I do them in my PK100 insulated electric smoker set at 155. I smoke the day before and get the brisket on the offset by 10AM, and they usually come off around 10PM (I do a no wrap brisket so...
Yeah, it's a tiny yard. Because of that, I also strategically planned it so almost all of my cookers are along the perimeter. The only things that are not along the perimeter are the Blackstone, and the prep table. But both of those are on wheels and super light and easy to move. So if needed...
So... my yard is very small to begin with, and the whole thing was on a slope when I bought the house, so a few years ago I flattened out a good portion of it and put in a paver stone patio.
That was cool for a while, but it still needed work and I decided it was finally time, so here's what I...
I'm in Nor Cal and haven't seen the Knottywood pellets in stock in too many places, but it was kind of funny because I went to a grocery store tonight that I never go to, because I was looking for something I can never seem to find and heard this place had it, and low and behold, they had a...
I have heard of what you describe before with the Nottywood pellets. In fact, I think Mad Scientist BBQ mentioned it in one of his Youtube Videos a while back, as he prefers the Knottywood pellets over other brands when he uses a pellet smoker.
My understanding is they are a great pellet, and...
Wondering if anyone here has any experience with using a co packer to make small batches of rubs/sauces for sale. Any experience/recommendations is appreciated. Thanks!
Not in my opinion. Depends what you consider messing up the bark. If you are looking for dry crunchy bark then yes, I guess so. It does not cause the bark to rub off though if that is what you mean.
I will describe it this way... it comes out pretty much exactly the same as a tallow soaked...
Yes, that is very helpful. I will have to give that a try. But, before I do I want to give this unit a fair shake and do a couple cooks with nothing but the pellets in the firebox, then try the heavy D diffusor, then try it with the pellet tubes. I will say when I did the burn off it did have a...
I have the multi-fuel Karu 16. I have only used it with a mix of lump charcoal and wood chunks since I have an abundance of wood due to my stick burners. I have been very happy with it. I'm starting to think about getting the gas attachment just to give that a try as well.
Awesome. Any idea where I can buy a smoke basket? I looked on both Lonestar Grillz website as well as Ironside Smokers, but did not see one available on either site.
Also, how does it work exactly? Do you just put wood chunks/splits or charcoal in it and place it on top of the heat diffuser...
Yes, it definitely has a lot of room, that's for sure. Plenty of room to cook as much food as I could possibly need for even the largest of cooks.
I got their Heavy D stick burning diffuser to go with it, and I also have various pellet tubes and a pellet tray. I'm not sure exactly what your...
Over the last couple of years I've built up an arsenal of different smokers, each with it's own purpose as I'm a believer in having different tools in the tool belt for different jobs. Not to mention, I'm also a little obsessive when I get in to a hobby and tend to go a little over the top. I...
It's definitely doable, and you can crank out a fine product (pun intended lol). I just wanted both hands free so I could put pressure on the horn with one hand and use the other to coil my ropes as I go without having to stop. I felt like the constant stopping and starting was resulting in more...
I've only used it once so far as I've just been super busy, but I do plan to use it a lot more in the near future.
The one time I did use it I found it to be much easier than my manual 5 lb. stuffer from a flow and consistency stand point. Using a manual stuffer just makes it difficult and a...
