My Oklahoma Joe Longhorn looks to be very similar to your smoker. I added a temp gauge plus moved them down to grate level (1 on each side of smoker). My smoker is 40" cook chamber I do believe? If yours is smaller may not be a need for 2 temp gauge? I would check the gauge i. Boiling water (212).

To me the hardest thing to achieve is keeping pellets lit! Once I started using a hair drying it became 100 times better. You should do a YouTube search on how to lit the AMNPS
