    Masterbuilt Gravity Feed

It’s way more than a lb an hour on my 560. I got maybe 10 hours out of 16 lbs. Lump seems to burn slower for me, but it costs a lot more.

    Masterbuilt Charcoal hopper grill

Bought one about a month ago, it's pure goodness. Darian Kosmo of Kosmo Q said it's the Holy Grail of smokers. I have the 560, it's plenty big for what I cook. Making beef ribs on it tomorrow, been using it a few times a week since I got it.

    New favorite

I need to try them, Dietz and Watsons pepperoni’s very very good, and pretty cheap. as someone who makes pizza and pasta from scratch. I dunno about hot dogs. Seems like a decent amount of work and I can’t see how I could out do the Boars Head natural casing ones I get from Ralph’s. And if my...

    Black Garlic

This stuff's $3 a head at my local store. For how long it takes to make it that doesn't see like a bad deal at all.

    FNG from South Orange County

Welcome, I got a Masterbuilt Gravity 560 about a month ago. Can sear at 700 and gets up to temp in about 14 minutes. If you’re looking at pellets even though it’s charcoal I’d suggest you look into the Gravity’s. and I’m in Riverside, so howdy neighbor.

Beef bones and ABT’s with pics

Looks gooooooood! I like to use Boars Head Chipotle Smoked Gouda in my poppers. Melts fantastic and is super tasty.

    KettlePizza w/ Prograte

+1 on the IR gun, but you have to pay attention there are many that max out at around 500f. Mine goes to 1050. It’s been invaluable for me when I make pizzas. imho I like the crust better on 5-6 minute bakes (NY style) but if you’re using 00 flour and can get your kettle up to 850-900f a 60-90...

    KettlePizza w/ Prograte

I never made a poolish with my Neo pizzas, I do know it’s a ton of extra work though lol. Yours looks good, I appreciate a pizza that looks home made. Interesting cook time too, you made a hybrid of sorts. I bet it tasted fantastic.

Looking at Fogo lump charcoal on Amazon

I know a lot of people swear by this stuff, I'm looking at the 35lb bag on Amazon and they offer an "expert assembly" option for an additional $99. So for a C-Note more somebody will come fill up the hopper on my smoker? $99 was the same charge on there to have somebody come and assemble a...

    What did I do wrong?

No expert here at all, but the 2 guys I spoke with who are big into smoking both said to get 24. Not necessary, but it's better to have a little extra width you don't need than to need another inch or 2. I bought 24 for like $26 where the 18 was $23.

    No wrap ribs. An experiment

I must try this, between not having to wrap them and my smoker having a PID. I don't even know if I can consider what I'd be doing as BBQ'ing lol. This method with PID is like a low and slow version of a microwave. Toss it on and it's done 5-6 hours later.

New Ballastic BBQ video on YT - Greg recreates Ribs from Love's!

Any members from So Cal who are over 40 should have memories of this BBQ restaurant. I don't know how many locations there were, but I do vividly remember the jingle on the radio. Greg got in contact with someone who use to be a pitmaster there and got some help recreating their sauce/glaze for...

Masterbuilt Gravity 1050 -- Package Dimensions and Assembly Tip

I have a 560 I HATE the design of the power, imho they should have made a hole in the side shelf and mounted the power connector in it. It just dangling there is, stupid. I've never had anything else with such a weird design like that. I'll have to get some sort of extender, but I plan to drill...

Anyone used any of the Fire & Smoke Society sauces or rubs?

woooow, hummmm I was a bit curious when all the reviews on Walmart.com pretty much said they were given the product to try and review. But I didn't think a free $5 bottle of BBQ sauce would make people want to say positive things. I'm kind of scared to even try it now, but you also got me...

Anyone used any of the Fire & Smoke Society sauces or rubs?

I want to get into making my own, but I want to buy a bunch to see what I like and don't like so I have something to go on. I'm going to smoke my 1st pork shoulder in a few days. I'm not 100% sure but I think I want to go with a thinner Carolina vinegar sauce. In So Cal and am not seeing...

    Masterbuilt Gravity Feed

I did watch some YT videos and read stuff on Google, but I have a couple of questions about a few of the mods from LSS and Klotes. I have the newer 560 that has the charcoal grate from the 800. on Klotes page he words it kind of odd when referencing the upgraded 560 grate. Would I see any...

    Masterbuilt Gravity Feed

A few weeks in, I'm looking for anything to smoke on mine. Obviously ribs and brisket and chicken, but I want to make smoked butter, figure out how to smoke salt, some sort of smoked dessert may be delicious. Can you smoke a fried egg? I dunno but I want to see if you can. Last few times I've...

Question for anyone who makes chicken wings on a smoker

I used it, even went all out and bought the Aluminum free kind off Amazon. They were crispy’ish but nothing like my good ol deep fryer. But the smokiness was real nice. I like them both ways. And I definitely like the Kosmo wing dusts. The Nashville one was nice and spicy.

Question for anyone who makes chicken wings on a smoker

I couldn't even estimate as I didn't check the hopper after. I know I did the 2 burn ins, the seasoning, and a 4 hour ham and had used 75% of a 20lb bag of blue Kingsford. Talking to others I'm getting all sorts of times. Some people say 10-12 hours for a full hopper (16lbs) at 225-250. Others...

Question for anyone who makes chicken wings on a smoker

I have nothing to compare it to as it's my 1st smoker. But 2 weeks and 5 cooks in I'm in love with it. Only thing I don't like so far is how damn fast it chews thru charcoal. The PID stays almost exactly at temp, and according to an Inkbird probe I ran along side the MB's one, the temps very...
