May 20th-Smokin 30# of pork butts

Not only was the pork really good, but we won both softball games we played! Thanks to everyone that contributes on this site - without it, I would surely have failed to make good Q!

May 20th-Smokin 30# of pork butts

Just finished pulling the first two butts. Another two resting - to be pulled shortly. Here's some porn! Update: Almost 2am and just wrapping up. Longer than expected, but seems it always is. It's well worth it though! BTW, I used hickory & cherry chunks for smoke.

Coming up on 14 hours. Two butts are in the cooler resting. Two more are in the oven and crawling their way up towards 190°F. Good thing I can sleep past 9am tomorrow!

May 20th-Smokin 30# of pork butts

Thank you! We have a softball game tomorrow, between my firehouse and a neighboring house. I got the food! They got the easy part - drinks! Gonna pick up some fresh rolls tomorrow from the bakery. Brought the butts inside and they are in the oven and foiled. Biggest butt is almost 160°, and a...

May 20th-Smokin 30# of pork butts

I got 4 butts (a little over 30# before trimming) in the smoker. Put the largest butt on the bottom rack, smallest on the top, and the last two of the same size in the middle. I used TulsaJeff's pork rub (from his pulled pork recipe with coleslaw)and I will be using Fla-Jeff's finishing sauce. I...

    FINISHING SAUCE (for Pulled Pork)

My buddy gave me a 2oz bottle of chipotle pepper powder from the McCormick Gourmet Collection that I will use next time. Made pulled pork sandwiches for a work softball game a week ago, and the bbq sauce was gone in ten minutes!

    GOSM Mod - Unplanned!!

I haven't looked at that thermometer on my GOSM since I seasoned it and found it off by 25°. I am thinking of removing it altogether, since it has become a place for moisture to drip from during my cold winter smokes. Nasty stain running down the front of my GOSM.

    Chicken & Fatty 4/7

Canon S2 IS - 5 megapixel, 12X optical zoom, w/ image stabilization. Got it over a year ago. Two guys I know have bought it more recently as the price has come down some from the $500 or so I paid. I see now the S3 is out, but I haven't read anything about it yet.

    Chicken & Fatty 4/7

Very juicy! G/f liked it better than the turkey I did a couple weeks ago. Only thing she liked more was the pulled pork I did last month.

    What are you smoking today

Make sure the peppers look crinkled (cooked) from top to bottom. First ones I did in an aluminum loaf pan, the bottoms were a little undercooked and quite spicy! The four dozen I've done since were much better - half dozen on a long skewer placed right on the rack.
