Can I finish Ribs, Pork Butt, Brisket, anything in the oven?

Sometimes the smell scares people because it really does smell like there's a fire in the house. But it would smell like a wood-smoke campfire, not a stovetop grease fire.

Help dialing in charcoal to wood ratio

Stay with the lump instead of briquettes since it burns cleaner when lighting, especially when you're adding fuel to a fire in progress. The wood/charcoal ratio depends on how much smoke flavor you want. Yesterday I smoked a little pork loin on the Weber 22 and the fire was mostly lump with a...

    Greeting from NC

I had a job with the company that wrote the inventory tracking software for the DeCA comissaries. They sent me out to train workers at various bases in the South and East. Bragg is big enough to have two of them. Near those bases in NC you'd never know what you'd see flying, so many different...

Like Crawfish? Live around the Great Lakes????

I help to organize an annual litter cleanup along the Scioto River. Over the years several older fishermen there have told me something like "I've been fishing here for 40 years" and I always ask, How does it compare now to back then and every one of them told me it's cleaner.

    Hello from sunny (smoky) Essex

Like Crawfish? Live around the Great Lakes????

Here in Columbus Ohio some of the older sewer system combines storm runoff with sanitary waste. So, we have "combined sewer overflow" outlets emptying into the rivers. The main solution, no kidding, was to dig a huge expensive tunnel that can hold overflows temporarily until the treatment plant...

Can I finish Ribs, Pork Butt, Brisket, anything in the oven?

One thing to consider about using the oven to finish is, it will probably make your kitchen/house smell like smoke for a while.

Yes a solid-state "hard drive" should be much better than spinning a mechanical disk. Cloud storage has advantages but you have to be able to get to it, if it's still there.

Got me a carport/working shed.... FINALLY....

Looks good, but kind of lonely without some long picnic tales full of people ... This house I'm in now has a roof over the patio and I love it. As people say, you can smoke/grill in any weather except maybe strong winds.

Should have asked first. Am I going to die now?

What about that mention of electricity - would that be from a capacitor intended to help the motor on startup? Kind of like on the old TV sets, remember how everyone warned you could get a shock from one even if it's unplugged?

    Food Safety While Eating Out

Good points, cjj - one thing I'd add about cryovacs is, before I open them I wash them like I wash my hands - no telling what the outside of the plastic has come into contact with.
