The week before last I was quoted over $600 for HRPO (hot rolled, pickled and oiled) 4x8' sheet of 1/4" steel that was roughly $230 a few years ago. And those prices were from a couple of suppliers so they would seem to be pretty standard for small orders. I used to think $6 to $6.50 a square...
All-righty then....
Although I'm new to the party on pork belly, I have a whole skin on belly cut into three pieces in the freezer to try my hand at porchettas. Done right the skin pretty much shatters when the knife first hits it.
Even though Nancy and I both grew up in the Buffalo, NY...
Pain meds....Uh-huh....Right..... Well I guess we all have a pet name for it....
Just remember, beer's not just for breakfast anymore. Thanks, Dutch, for your efforts.
Best regards to all,
Umm.....did anyone warn the new inductees that they have to host a BBQ and beer blast weekend for the other members? :emoji_open_mouth:
Anyway, congratulations and welcome to the incoming class! You've earned it!
Best regards to all,
Thanks. By the way, I'm embarrassed for you that you have a nasty Spectrum 875 cluttering up the shop. Feel free to box it up and ship it to me if you need more space and want to avoid the stigma. :emoji_wink:

Good morning, John
There's a much better calculator than Feldon's right at the top of this forum. As a general rule the firebox wants to be at least 1/3 the volume of the cook chamber and long skinny tanks like yours do better with a bit more than that as the calculator here shows.
I'm not...
Good morning, JC
1/4" steel weighs a bit over 10 pounds per square foot so 700 pounds indicates around 70 SF of steel. Can you share your design? And what are you concerned with being able to repair?
What plasma cutter are you using? And what welder?
Thanks,
My wife and I both grew up in the suburbs of Buffalo in the '60s and early '70s so we're pretty particular about wings. Chicken wings were inexpensive and were often sold for pennies a pound to cover the cost of the tray and wrapping they came on. And they were made in so many varieties by so...
It's also worth noting that a stack out the top will tend to drip nasty condensate into the cooking chamber at times and you really don't want that draining onto your cooking racks......
Best regards to all,
A few months ago I decided to sell my old welders, engine driven welder/generator and some very heavy duty tools I haven't had a need for since we "retired" four years ago, sold our farm in New York and downsized to our North Carolina place. And I thinned the herd of some very nice "safe queen"...
Good morning
Welcome to the forum. If you haven't yet been to the new member intro page you ought to swing by there so we can give you a proper welcome. And adding your location might help focus answers some.
While far from being an expert on smoker design I'll take a shot at a few of your...
The jar sealers excel at keeping bulk seasonings, spices and dried foods and herbs fresh. We do a good bit of backpacking and canoe trips and we both dehydrate at home and buy bulk freeze dried and dehydrated foods. Once the original packaging is opened we transfer the food to jars and vacuum...
