    Too many tomahawk's

Fathers day and I decided that tomahawk steaks were on the menu. It was raining, the bridge exits were closed, we had some cancellations. These are Costco versions and pretty thick. Smoked on cherry at 180° on the recteq. Should be enough meat for 5 people.

    Best pellet brand

Ho many of each flavor do you have to order to get them to ship to you? So they mix or do you just get one flavor? I have to go to two different places to get hickory and cherry in one, apple, oak, and pecan in the other. To get the mesquite blend I have to drive for an hour and a half to get...

What brand pellets are 100% wood listed on bag?

I used some traeger pellets in a mailbox mod and after a short period of time dark liquid would seep through the air inlet holes in the bottom. I switched to lumberjack and the problem went away. I have read in other places that traeger adds flavor to their pellets.

    Best pellet brand

That's another good idea. I learned to add wood chips into smoke tubes to increase the smoke profile from @OldSmoke.

    Best pellet brand

I only use lumberjack pellets. I have a recteq and primarily use extreme smoke, 180° and get plenty of smoke flavor.

3 Layer Meatloaf with Romanoff Potato Puff Cups, And BBQ Cake also

Terrific looking meatloaf and potatoes. I will definitely have to give this a go. I may forget the cheese on top and go for the bacon weave as @gmc2003 suggested. Awesome as usual!

Touching Memorial Weekend Tribute in a Short Video

Being a Vietnam era veteran, these bring tears to my eyes every time. I was a crew chief for the F4. Total respect for the pilots that flew them.

    Help with these steaks

What we eventually did was smoke them to 115° IT and covered loosely with A. foil to get them to stop cooking. They sat for about 2 hours and then I grilled them to 130° IT. Most of the people had never had smoked meat before, and they were cooked how I like them, everyone was pleased. The...

    Help with these steaks

I have thought about getting a small portable smoker but could never justify it. Now I know why people get them. I thought they would be good for tailgating, but we never do that. It turns out the party was at BIL house so on the way there, with wife holding the meat in her lap, she asked why...

    Help with these steaks

    Help with these steaks

Best option so far. Now all I have to do is drive wife to the party and come back home to get the meat ready.

    Help with these steaks

The steaks are an after thought, the salmon is the main course. Someone else is cooking it. The person who owns the grill doesn't even know how to use it. It is for guest chef. Salmon is cooked in it often.

    Help with these steaks

I have been asked to smoke these steaks for a party on Sunday. The situation is complicated and I'm not positive I know how to handle it. After I agreed to do it and after I bought them I was told that the steaks were to be seared after a salmon is cooked on the grill. At the party there...

Lumberjack Pellets in the Western WA area

When I buy them at the store, the price is $17, when I drive an hour they are $12. So $5 savings a bag, but it doesn't cost me an afternoon.

Lumberjack Pellets in the Western WA area

I really like the mesquite blend, which I can't get without driving an hour. If the store doesn't start carrying them, I'm going to go and buy a bunch of bags of each and store them. I figure if I have 10 bags, I can make it through the shorter season here in the puget sound.
