the top vents were wide open, there's two. and that's a great idea with the foil. I've done that with other smokers in the past. the mes is just so new to me.
I could be horribly wrong, and maybe my pellets smoked way to fast. I was doing a shoulder, wings and a fresh kielbasa, it all was over smokey. When I opened it the fat in the water pan was smoking, again it could have been I had the unit at the highest heat.
So it was super bowl Sunday and I attempted my first smoke in the MES 30 I bought off marketplace. There were some issues that I had that day that I finally want to bounce off everyone. Out of the gate I didn't know about the error code when I went to fire it up in extreme cold, that set the...
Huge tips there. Thank you. And I am def gonna do the mailbox mod. That's the next step. The MES I picked up didn't have legs so I ordered those from masterbuilt. They are allegedly showing up today via FedEx, but I trust gas station sushi more than their shipping updates. Once the legs are on...
Yeah I’m incredibly late to the a-maze-n party. Just ordered mine this week and got it today, in time for the weekend. They hooked me up! Got two free spices in my order, great surprise. Gonna fire up the MES 30 that I just scored last weekend and use the tray I ordered. Pretty pumped for...
Congrats man! That is so cool. Bon Appetit is top notch. Their streaming channel is awesome. Hopefully they air the competition. Again, Congrats and Good Luck!!! Keep us all posted!!
Thank you everyone for your responses. As an avid smoker, grilling, food lover and all around kitchen nerd I am curious. Personally I prefer to order directly from the little guy if I can, but unfortunately some times the big box vendors are a must.
Hi all,
just curious how most of you get all your gear?
Are you more apt to use a big box online retailer or go to a smaller local shop?
And I am asking about everything from large purchases to just picking up some rubs or even chips or pellets?
Would love to hear everyone's input.
(with the...
Othello is a great name! You pretty much described our newf with the color. He's gonna be 7 in the next few weeks. We get every "bear" joke everywhere we take him.
According to the Newfoundland who just came from outside, the snow just started here in New Hampshire. The 175lb yard bear is my barometer for the weather around here. We are looking at up to 18" possibly with howling winds. Definitely a good Nor'easter gonna tear through.
Took a cheap top round and rubbed it down over night with a fresh garlic rub. Blasted it in the oven. The 11 year old approved!! Gonna be sandwiches for the week with leftovers.
That was my feel also. Picked up some pork shoulders today for .69 a lb. Seemed like a good way to run it up the flagpole to see what I was up against.
Just picked up a 30” MES this weekend off marketplace. Still navigating the new waters and checking it out. Finally got it paired to my phone, realized that it has the broiler option. Found the “manual” on the inter webs. And after reading a lot of info on here, finally got around to ordering a...
Looking to do some salmon, couple racks of ribs, a fresh ham hock I was given, along with making 4 batches of home made BBQ sauce. Feel like I may have to smoke some fresh kielbasa also. Big Sunday planned. Thankful for beer.....
Not sure what I personally love more about your post the food or the sentiment. I couldn't agree with you more about friends and food. My wife always knows when I'm starting to twitch and the need for feeding our friends hits me. Enjoy the Texas spring!!
