One idea might be writing down in a note book what worked and what didn’t. How much charcoal you used, did you use wood or not, what you did with the vents, the rub etc. you’ll eventually find out what worked best
I’m still re-using charcoal my 3rd cook in - I’ve added in less than a handful individual pieces across that time and probably wasn’t needed.
been using a brand on Amazon called Big K charcoal as I had it left over, but going forwards going to use the Kamado Joe Big Block charcoal

My first spatchcock chicken and my second cook on the Kamado Joe jr. It’s so easy to use it’s like a luxury compared to my old offset
