    one person smoker

I'm far from being any kind of expert, but it looks like the Brinkmann Smoke-N-Grill Charcoal Smoker and Grill  might suit your purpose.  Heck, I could see me using one for smaller cooks so I don't have to fire up my OKJLh.

    I completely forgot

Sounds like a good thing that you found your smoker!  Also sounds like it won't take long for you to be on track for some good eats.

    Q-View - Beef and Pork

This was from my cook last Saturday, 6/21 - got lazy and didn't post until now. TBS rising! Beef brisket, side ribs and short ribs rubbed and ready to go. Three hours into my cook.  I wrapped the beef ribs and put the pork spare ribs and trims on.  Also tossed a link of kielbasa on as an...

Are rib racks a must have?

I used a rib rack last weekend because I planned to have so much on my OKJLh.  The ribs cooked the same as  when I lay them flat on the grate.  Going forward, I have no issue using a rack when I need the space.

Smokers, Whats your age and how long have you been smoking???

I'll hit my threescore and ten in August - still kickin', just not as high! I've been grilling since I was a teen in the late 50s.  Got my first smoker (Brinkmann) in 1994 on which I did some decent beef brisket and really good turkeys.  Around 1999, I got a New Braunfels Silver Smoker to...

    Effect of Tuning Plates

I really enjoy most of what Alton Brown does on his different programs - very knowledgeable fellow. As to IR inside a kitchen oven, that's what I was relating to with the effect of the tuning plates.  It's good to hear you agree about the IR effect. As to the cleanliness of my smoker, I'm with...

    Effect of Tuning Plates

Yep, and on my second cook using the tuning plates, I removed one and changed spacing.  Temps were pretty even from end to end but there's still the "oven" effect I wasn't expecting.  But, that's why we experiment and test.

    Effect of Tuning Plates

I like free thinking and didn't read anything bad in your post.  The free exchange of ideas is what I look for in any conversation. Sometimes, I have a tendency to over-think something.  In the case of the difference in cook effect in my smoker now, it will be easy enough to adjust the grate...

    Effect of Tuning Plates

As a newbie on the forum, I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago in which I asked questions about the effect of tuning plates.  I didn't get any response, but now I seem to have some answers myself. I modified my OK Joe Longhorn to add a deflector and tuning plates.  All are made from 1/4"...
