I'm far from being any kind of expert, but it looks like the Brinkmann Smoke-N-Grill Charcoal Smoker and Grill might suit your purpose. Heck, I could see me using one for smaller cooks so I don't have to fire up my OKJLh.

I used a rib rack last weekend because I planned to have so much on my OKJLh. The ribs cooked the same as when I lay them flat on the grate. Going forward, I have no issue using a rack when I need the space.

Yep, and on my second cook using the tuning plates, I removed one and changed spacing. Temps were pretty even from end to end but there's still the "oven" effect I wasn't expecting. But, that's why we experiment and test.
