On dad's grill, the thing that holds the tank has a spring or whatever in it that tells you the level based on the weight of the tank and contents. Full will pull it to the bottom and it rises and shows a level as it gets used up.
Ok, I am most certainly not an expert but I am pretty sure that cooking the meat...in any way at all, doesn't turn the meat in to sugars. Yes, the meat will get caramelized on the outside but that won't really add any carbs. The same way if you cook a burger over direct heat. That is why a lot...
This is a small pig we did on my dad's propane grill. We just put the 2 outside burners on low and put the food in the middle. Wood chips go on the left also in the little box. It doesn't do quite as good as my UDS but in a pinch it does work. Certainly easier and faster to get going for sure.
Unfortunately, down here in Florida...Rattle Snakes and Water Moccasins are on my terrorist list. I often encounter them and take the opportunity to humanly remove them from mine and surrounding properties. I have had a cat and dog succumb to the lethal bite of these guys. I have eaten a few...
I use a BBQ Guru with the pit and food probes. I put the meat one in straight away so I don't have to open the smoker (UDS) later on. I always make sure to clean it good though before and after use. It is always a good practice to probe different places in a large cut to make sure but I probably...
I had the same problem as Wes, I used to have my freezer stuffed. I recently went out and bought a small chest freezer, 7.1 cubic feet. It is the best thing ever, I love it. For only ~150 bucks the price was right, now I have more than 150$ worth of meat in there lol.
Wolfpackpilot, just a little tip for smoking shrimp...I run 2 12" or whatever size skewers through them from belly to back. you can usually fit 8-10 on each one and it keeps them organized, spaced properly and easy to deal with when on the smoker or grill.
That is certainly possible however if it is like I am picturing it in my mind that would create a hoop that keeps the ashes under the basket instead of letting them spread out. I have made 2 baskets, one for each smoker I have.
My UDS basket I used the bolts to keep it up and have burned 20lbs...
Do some pork shots, they are always a hit along with some ABT's. I am going to try to smoke some hard boiled eggs and then make deviled eggs with them. Never tried it before but sounds tasty.
I have the DigiQ DX2 and love it. My UDS already holds temps great but I use this for every smoke I do. Only complaint is that you will burn up more fuel vs normal.
