mine is actually a Brookstone model
It seems to work well, though I don't use it much. I really don't like to keep poking my meats and letting the juices run out.
mine is out in the storage room, next to the smoker. I will take a look at mine tomorrow. If it has the batteries in it, boil up some water and test it to see how close to 212 it is.
I smoked a 5 lb shoulder yesterday and while it was taking on smoke (the first 5 hours) I set the temp at 230-250. Once I hit 5 hours and about 170 I cranked up to 280-300 and it still took me 11 hours. I don't have a MES, but it's the same principal.
