My Mega Mini Pictorial Guide to the Mini-WSM

Any chance you can post some images specifically of how the lid is used on the bottom of the pot.  I'm not grasping how the lid is used to keep it from sitting down in the bottom of the grill.

Well I guess it's the end of an era.

Well that sucks.  I'm sorry to hear that.

Best Thermometer for a Mini WSM?

I didn't realize that I had these already for my build until I saw that image.  I still have to come up with my tamale pot.  I'll take a look around locally once boxing day is over.

    Mini-WSM Smokin table

Metal flashing is what I was thinking about.  I'll have to wait until after the new year.  I can't lift anything over 10 pounds right now, so I have to wait until I have assistance moving that big paver.

The Ultimate Way to Season Cast Iron - Flaxseed oil

After cooking with one of the skillets, I coat the surface with flax seed oil and heat it until it starts to smoke.  I guess it's not a reseasoning, but it seems to help the surface.

    Mini-WSM Smokin table

Sorry for the second post so soon.  I didn't think about it before, but I'll have to put some sort of guard on this so coals don't roll onto the wood.  Hate to have the table burn.  Not an issue with the table, but it could drop my dutch oven and that would be a bad thing.

    Mini-WSM Smokin table

I really like that table.  I do a lot of dutch oven cooking and that would really help me get up off the ground.  It probably would allow much better air circulation around the bottom coals and for a dutch oven that means better temperature control. I think I'll steal your idea

    Fritz's mini WSM build

So I picked up the ET732 in red.  I got it the other day.  I just checked it out with the boiling water test.  I'm very happy with how it performed at 212F.

    Fritz's mini WSM build

I'll add the vents, but I'll likely wait until I use it a time or 2 first to see how it does without.

Is this the Maverick everyone uses?

I went and bought an ET732.  I got this one. So, how far are people actually seeing that this works?  I know it depends on what's in your area, structures and radio interference.  But does it really work farther than 100'?

    Fritz's mini WSM build

Well, I picked up a Smokey Joe Silver for the kids to give me.   I also ordered a Maverick ET732 thermometer for myself for my birthday.  I'll shop for the pot once I'm allowed to open the grill. BTW, I also ordered Jeff's book.  I figure I'm getting an education here, I want to support the site.

    74 lbs of butts

Wow, that's a lot of butt.  So I guess this is for some sort of party?

    Fritz's mini WSM build

Yeah, I had read through both of your threads, along with a bunch of other threads about the mini.  I'll be using them, along with the other threads, to help me with my build.

    Yeeeehaaaaa!!!

I'm in the gathering stage as well. The kids need things to give me for Christmas.  I'm having issues with the pot, I don't want to spend $50 on it.  I haven't looked locally yet, mainly because I don't have the Smokey Joe until one of them gives it to me on Christmas.  It has to be 14.5", is...

    Cure #1, Cure #2 buying

Ok, another newbie with a question about this.  I've read the links and just want to ensure that I understand what I need. If I'm not planning on making any sausage, I can just get cure #2?  My main interest right now for low temp smoking is to make some buckboard bacon.
Great deal on LEM Grinders!
