Both my grandfathers landed at Normandy. Oddly enough they didn't know each other at the time but they both were on the same landing vessel.
How's that for a coincidence...
The other day the better half says to me, "you know you use more aluminum foil than anyone I know..."
I started thinking about and maybe I do use more than normal? We probably go through a roll of the wide heavy duty every 3 weeks and a roll a month of the regular.
I actually just ordered a...
The potatoes are on now. Running at 500° with the bottom vent wheel just barely cracked...
I think it'll work. These spuds will be crispy outside, like butter inside!
I saw this on FB (credited to Aaron Franklin) and it intrigued me. Set up a 2 zone cook on the Weber Kettle by dividing it with a piece of smoke wood. Cherry in my case....
Guess we'll see the results.
I'm sure many of us have family members who've made the ultimate sacrifice. Let's remember them on this Memorial Day while the smoke is rolling and the beers are cold!

This is Zoey. 100+ pounds of Mastiff and something else puppy energy (picture not indicative of actual dog). She came to spend the weekend while her owner was on vacation and then never left. Great dog, just stubborn as can be...

Had this piece of rump roast in the freezer... Thawed and put in Pop's brine (submerged and injected) for 2 weeks.
Rubbed tonight with pastrami rub. Just wondering about finish temp. I want to make nice clean slices tomorrow after it's smoked. 190°? Is that tender enough to eat at 1/4" or...
It's doing somwsomet out there now. I'm not sure it's really snow? Seems more like the snow you see out of a snow gun at ski resort. Real dry and very small flakes.
Well I was ready to get walloped by snow this weekend but it looks like we got downgraded from 12+ inches to maybe an inch or two...
In prep for the storm I made some chuck roast burnt ends. Not too much Q-view.
Rubbed waiting for the WSM to get ready:
Finished product. Excellent!
My 2nd favorite large production beer (1st is 2-Hearted Ale) is being released this week. I'll be loading up on Troegs Nugget Nectar tomorrow afternoon. It's usually around for about 2 weeks in January so I try to load up when it gets released.
Not sure what will be on the smoker this...
Well the verdict is in and these are not one of my better productions. They have almost no flavor. They pretty much taste like hot dogs. I think I'll scrap this recipe...
