Boy... girl... Guess we'll see tomorrow...

I like that idea!!!! Unfortunately I have a big mouth. My better half and her mom are the only two who know if I'm getting a nephew or niece and they refuse to tell me...

Boy... girl... Guess we'll see tomorrow...

So my vegan sister in law (who likes my brisket) is having a gender reveal party tomorrow. Yours truly was volun-told I needed to make PP. And we're off... Rubbing butts and enjoying a local beer from Bonsai Brewing in Hegins PA. Two hours rubbed in plastic wrap in the fridge and we're...

    Does Alexa help you?

So I got a dot with Alexa about a year ago. I've relocated it now out to my cooking area. I like the timer function. I know there are a million other timers out there but when the music stops, it gets attention. As I am getting older, I've started using a Thermopop instant read too. I'm...

How much do you strap on your Weber?

I hear ya about the lurker! We're down to one dog and one cat that actually live here... But we get some transients that past through.... My neighbor down the road has 2 dogs that lived here for all but a summer. Good thing the better half and me are animal lovers. No one goes unfed or unloved!

Garlic dill pickles UPDATE! READY TO EAT IN 3 DAYS WITH VAC CANISTER

I use this one from Alton Brown. They always come out good. I actually just did a batch last Sunday. I use the vacuum containers for these too just to move things along a little faster. Recipe: AB's B&B's Ingredients 1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced 2 medium cucumbers, thinly sliced 1 cup...

Garlic dill pickles UPDATE! READY TO EAT IN 3 DAYS WITH VAC CANISTER

As a caveat to this, I'm sure I'm not the only person who bought nice firm cucumbers and then had life happen. If my cucs soften a bit, I make bread-n-butter pickles out of those. Great use for otherwise "select" grade pickles!

Garlic dill pickles UPDATE! READY TO EAT IN 3 DAYS WITH VAC CANISTER

This might be the best recipe I've picked up on this site thus far. This is about the 50th batch of these I've made over the past few years. Perfect snack on a hot day with a cold Chesterfield while the whole chicken does its thing on the Weber Kettle.

    Which FoodSaver???

Yep! Works great. I take stuff right from the freezer to a boiling pot of water. Tastes as good as the day it was made.

    Almost 9 years ago......

Great story man and even better that you're training the next generation of pit masters! I live in PA so it's a bit late for me to join you for a drink lol. I hear you about culture shock though. I have no neighbors for quite a distance. Not sure I could ever live in an urban area again. I...

    Tree ID App?

Anybody have a good tree identification app that can work with a picture of a leaf? I tried a few but they all require you to scroll through a hundred leaf pictures. I'm lazy and would prefer to take a picture of the leaf then let Skynet tell me what kind of tree it is. Since I seem to have...

    Lyme disease

I got diagnosed last year. Pulled 100's of ticks off me through the years, got one latched onto my tricep last summer that left the bullseye on me. Then the rash spread to my armpit and down my side. Felt like total shit for 2 days. Went to the doctor, she prescribed me some Doxycycline for...
