The problem with installing heat deflectors is the smoker is technically my brother's late birthday present. I know, kinda like Fred Flintstone buying Wilma a bowling ball for Christmas, but he may not agree with me modifying it. I'm going to get an Oklahoma Joe reverse flow Longhorn for myself...
The butt was in the middle of the cooking chamber. I haven't installed tuning plates. It's,s a Kingsford Sierra smoker. Bottom of the barrel smoker I know, but I think of it as a challenge.
I smoked a Boston butt. I know bullet type smokers like the back of my hand, but am just learning how to use an offset barrel smoker. The bottom half of the bottom half of the butt was a good bit doner than the top. I opened the smoke stack all the way, was that too much? Would partially closing...
My dad passed away last year and I never had kids. I'm still going to smoke a Boston butt and have a few people over. The weather may force me to transfer it to the oven.
After twenty years of bullet style smokers, I bought a stick burner. I'm accustomed to using wood chips with a charcoal/wood smoke, should I use chunks for an all wood smoke?
If you want another offset barrel smoker, an Oklahoma Joe would be a good choice, if you want a bullet style smoker, WSM is the best. Here's what I don't like about bullet style smokers. One rack is under the other and you can't adjust the fire without opening the cooking chamber. I prefer...
Suicide isn't always a reaction to being in pain. Some people do it because of being diagnosed with a painful and terminal illness. Emotional pain isn't the only reason to do it. JS.
Good idea. I haven't yet because I'm used to using wood and charcoal. I plan to first learn the offset with the fire I'm used to, then start doing all wood smokes. The flavor today was good, but I had trouble dialing it in. I did, but the butts spent some time in the oven because of the delay.
Well, everybody liked the barbecue, said it was great. I learned more about my smoker. Bummer that I had to finish in the oven, buy they had been in the smoker for six hours at that point. Anyway, not accustomed to offset barrel smokers, but I know the things to improve. It holds its temperatures...
People are running late anyway but now I'm out of charcoal. I got the two biggest ones in the oven. Should have left them on longer. Anyway, they were in the smoker six hours. Should have good smoke flavor. I used apple wood.
11:20 butts have been smoking since 7:00 o'clock, took a bit to dial it in, but has held steady once I did. Come one o'clock, I'm going to eat like a hog
What I meant was that the smoker got mixed reviews when I was researching smokers. The barbecue is in progress. They've been smoking two hours and forty minutes. As for the smiling Boston butts, auto correct and typing in a hurry. I had heard the inventor of auto-correct died, but that was some...
