Today was dyno rib day. Smoke ring not as evident after 9 hours smoking. Started at 180 plus added 12” tube with pellet/chips mix. After two hours raised to 275. Last two hours at 300. What I can tell you is Smoque produces subtle smoke taste. Definitely not a full bodied charcoal smoke...

    Overnight Brisket/Smokin' Pecan Pellets

Brisket turned out great! Best bark and smoke profile I've gotten from a pellet smoker( without using a smoke tube ). The flat was moist, but not juicy, but I expected that. There was zero marbling in it. I sorted through the the whole cooler, but they were all like that. The point was...

Camp Chef Woodwind Pro produces zero smoke flavor

Remember the electric bullet smoker of the old days. Smoldering smoke the same as a burn tube. My wood burner does make meat better tasting than my pellet smoker but not by much if you use the right pellets. Few can tell the difference. When PID controllers came along, the tight...

    Smoker worth fixing up?

I actually geeked out and measured it. Adds around 20F if directly in smoker. Adds zero heat if you do the mailbox mod. Also, you can get a tray instead of tube and use dust which add no heat. If you add PID it becomes a BEAST. Will hold temps insanely good. Most of us set it up to run a...

In the market for a new smoker. Any recommendations?

Grilla Pellet grill sale! They are very close to Rectec , with a few upgrades. SS racks, Double walled for COLD cooks, Wifi, Smoke Mode, can also add a smoker tube ? They are shipped for free , no sales tax. There is a Silverback model on sale for $899. But only for a few hrs, sale ends? Sorry...

    Jalapeño Cheddar Brats

...or rib run. Try a smaller charcoal load and a tube filled with pellets. You are looking to smoke and partially cook the sausage before finishing by poaching in a warm water bath. I can smoke in a JJ using a pellet tube and a small charcoal load. Wood chunks are not reliable in my experience.

I purchased a recteq dual fire. I thought it was one of the more versatile units that I was researching. Looked hard at camp chef as well but the recteq just seemed to do more of what I want to do.

Welcome to the party. No experience with a Grilla platform. There are many brands of tubes to fill with pellets to add smoke flavor https://www.amazon.com/Pellet-Smoker-Tube-Stainless-Generator/dp/B07JGVBKN3?th=1

The end of my search to get offset flavor on a pellet smoker

...discovered the disappointment with the amount and complexity of smoke flavor I was getting on my pellet smoker. I soon found out about pellet tubes and mazes, and initially, I was quite happy. But I soon came to realize, that even though the amount of smoke flavor increased, the complexity...

    From Costco to the smoker!

...while. Other than 2 links for dinner tonight, the rest gets bagged, tagged, and frozen. Easiest thing in the world! Load my 12 inch pellet tube full, fire it up and put it in my mailbox with a lava rock under the front, load the sausage and cheese in the smoker and don't plug it in. it...

1st time Chuck Roast on pellet grill ? Still trying to figure out Pellet grills?

Temp is good, skip the smoke mode. I find it a waste of time. Smoke to an IT of 145 minimum then let it rest for 15 min. Pellet is no different than any other cooking, just an easy way to do it. Enjoy If you don't find it smokey enough you can add a smoke tube to future smokes.

In the market for a new smoker. Any recommendations?

I'm team RecTeq all the way. There are a wide variety depending on budget and their customer service is the best I've ever seen. If you are concerned about smoke, you can amazon a smoke tube for $10 that will add smoke and most smokers have a low heavy smoke setting. The two things I like...

In the market for a new smoker. Any recommendations?

HI! Grill choices: I almost got a used pellet grill, but then said why put good $ into a big Maybe it will last ? Not worth the risk of buying used electrics IMO ? I looked for over a year before buying one. As far as reviews go?: Traeger has many but are not the best? Grilla ships direct...

Choosing the best smoker for pork

MES 30 or 40 are great options. Especially like what @schlotz said with the mailbox mod or a pellet tube/maze

    Smoker worth fixing up?

I’ve never used a pellet tube, do they put off a lot of extra heat or is it just mainly smoke? Everything works on this smoker, being a little older and not having any money invested into, i wouldn’t mind upgrading it, any suggestions on what I should change out?

I was wondering how it did . The SmokeFire really shines here . Fantastic smoke profile , especially on beef . I don't use a tube , because mine doesn't need it , but I always start mine at 200 . Then set it to smoke boost if that's what I want . Most times I just leave it at 200 and let it...

    Pellet & Charcoal Sales

I found pitboss pellets to be almost smokeless, pellets don't give off gobs of smoke at the best of times, but those were zero smoke. Good heat but defeats the purpose. Just my experience Corey

    From Costco to the smoker!

Sounds mighty tasty! Love me some sausage and cheese! Post up a pic or two when you can… As we say around here, pics or it didn’t happen! 😉😆 And I am assuming the sausage has some form of cure… cold smoking in the 80* range for 5 hours?!
