The freezing process expands the casing to some degree leaving some room for expansion during cooking.
Freezing first, a least partially, keeps the vac sealing process from squirting the meat out of the casings with standard vac sealers. You don't need to worry about that with a chamber vac...
...in the market for an expensive $1000 vac sealer. I wondered if anybody has experience with these or recommends other lower-priced chambersealers. What are your thoughts? The chamber bags are so much cheaper that they would almost pay for themselves, along with the benefit of being able...
I have this exact Nesco American Harvest model. Have had it for a number of years (5 or 6) you won't go wrong with it and if you ever go with a chamber sealer this is a perfect companion. That's how we use it.
Double seal strip, extra wide
Wet seal mode
Adjustable seal times
Manual seal...
While sealing my 48 bags of green chili, I noticed the lock handle was broken on my oldest FoodSaver.
It is supported from both sides, but one was broken.
So I want to get a new sealer to replace it.
It's a real time save having two when you are doing mass quantities. At least 48 bags is mass...
...it and don't have any sealer bars left. So this must have been a problem. Gave me a part number of 876362 and google can't find any.
$400 on a vac sealer and 4 years its dead. Looks like they got rid of the 360 and all models like that and nothing but chambersealers now for $1k or more.
I have the FM5200. As another posted, it can be a PITA due to the height of the slot for the open end of the bag and even more so because you have to press the bar on BOTH sides simultaneously to start the vacuum, so you have to hold the bag in place using both hands AND at the same time, use...
As much stuff as I vac seal, I've been eyeing up chamber vacs for a while since the bags are cheap and you don't need to pre-freeze anything to keep any liquid from messing up the seal like with traditional vac sealers. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, though.
I got a Vevor DZ-260 last year and have been very happy with it, I got mine on recommendation from a buddy that has the model that is one size down. He has really used the heck out of his and has quite the sealing station setup in his garage, he claims that it is the same pump and everything as...
Hi there and welcome!
I don't know if I have any vacseal meat last more than 2 years before it's eaten but I have no doubt it would be fine with my vac sealed results.
So like the others are reporting, you will seen no difference.
As for vac sealers I suggest getting a real one which will...
I found it, the sealer tape is clipped into a clamp and just broke off. They have a spring flex on the far side. Obviously knowing expansion and contraction, so there should be a known duty cycle for it.
Called Lisa at Vac Sealers Unlimited and they sell the LEM units now. She said they...
...lasted more than a few years and we use it a lot.
Looking for recommendations to replace it. Right now, I'm set on replacing with its Foodsaver equivalent. But I could be open to new ideas. I wanna spend less than $200, so the chambersealers are out of the question.
My old one...
