Thanks! It sure does, it’s a shame I don’t use it as much as I should!
Thanks Chris! I’m sure they will like it since my family doesn’t do a lot of bbq for family gatherings. So it will be different and hopefully good.
Thanks again for the bday wishes!
Thanks Bear! Can’t wait to chow down...
Your OkJoe DLX Pellet Grill does not have a PID type controller, so the temps on it will swing within 20*-30* degrees from the set temp. This is completely normal for the type of controller your pellet grill has. The temp dial on your controller goes from 200*-225*-250*... and again, as long...
Ok, please don't laugh. We just replaced our venerable Brinkmann Smoke'n'Pit (over 20 years of year-round smoking didn't do the firebox any good) with an Oklahoma Joe Longhorn. That comes with a reverse flow system; while getting mods to finish it off (e.g., tape for the firebox and the smoker...
Well there ya go Joe....keep this one in mind next time you're alone for an evening. It took a few different pans and the Rec Tec, but it really wasn't a difficult meal to make. Just had to keep an eye on the seafood to make sure it wasn't overcooked
Thank you again my friend but I doubt...
Thanks I was really happy with the smoke ring. Love my OKJoe ever since I made a bunch if mods that really made a huge difference.
Def going look into injecting next time
have an MES smoker that the control panel died on, to the tune of $100, that coupled with the fact I’ve wanted to step up to a wood/charcoal smoker and Walmart had a Highlander for $184, I bought myself a late Christmas present. To boot? It was the last one and the display so I got it assembled...
Hey Everyone-
Read through the great prime rib threads here, thanks so much for the information! Have a couple of questions; but first my tale of woe. It’s a little long, really just intended to put a smile on your face and get a laugh at my expense.
First of all, this is a safe space right...
This thread will be for my new purchase, an Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn 3-1 Combo. I will be posting mods and improvements as they get done.
The Oklahoma Joe Longhorn 3-1 is half propane grill, half smoker, with a side firebox and a side burner. The smoker cook chamber is approx 20" dia x 20"...
I have an OKJoe Highland, & I love it, I bought all the MODs & made an upper shelf & was still under $500
I enjoy tending the fire so that doesn't bother me. The only down side is when the weather is in the 30's (New Jersey)
I wish the fire box was insulated to help maintain the temps, you...
I have a OKJoe Highland, I have a lot of mods & my Temps & cooks have been really good.
Now I'm thinking about adding fire bricks to cut down on fuel usage & still maintain the temps
I use charcoal to get the base going & the all wood after that. Should I put the fire brick in the fire box &...
A while ago i was seeking input on a comparison between OKJoe highland and WSM.
Since then i also started looking at the RF version of the Highland and decided to go for it.
I picked up a mod kit: RTV, gasket, clamps.
Will be assembling tomorrow.
New to mods so here are some dumb...
I use a WSM (which i love) however just recently bought a used OkJoe for $20! Needed some TLC (had some rust). I've spent about $200 in mods (tuning plate, upgraded temp gauge, gaskets, charcoal basket). Just burner it out this weekend, and held temp pretty well the entire time! Doing my first...
Hello all. This is my first post, but I have read until I’m blue in the face trying to figure out the solution to my problem. I have an OKJoe Longhorn pit that I’ve had for about 5 years now. However, until recently there haven’t been any mods. I added gaskets to seal the smoke chamber, I...
Hey all. So it’s been a long time since I’ve posted. Several years back I jumped on the Mini WSM truck and had great smoke success and fun with it. About a year ago the bottom of my Smokey Joe finally rusted out enough that I could no longer use it. I’ve been using a 22” Weber with some mods to...
Hi my name is Mike.
I live in Smithfield NC. I have an Oklahoma Joe's Highland smoker, a Masterbuilt propane smoker, and a couple of Weber kettle grills. I pretty much love to cook, grill, and smoke. I have done local bbq competitions and have smoked chicken, pork, and turkeys for as many as...
Al, can you explain your mods a little more? Maybe I should just look at mods for a OKJoe and that would be easier. It looks like you put that pan of water on the opposite side of the fire box. I don't understand how that helps keep the heat even across?
I have easily a 20 degree difference...

I am thinking of upgrading to a better/long lasting smoker. I narrowed my options to two smokers.
Can i ask for some feedback from OKJoe Highland (non reverse flow) and WSM 22 owners?
I am looking for decent temp control, reliability, build quality. And to last longer than 5 years...
The rev flow OkJoe already has tuning plates and charcoal basket.
If you follow the general advice here you would spend less than 50$ more on mods: seals mostly.
I got the same smoker. Other than the FB paint peeling (so far) i am happy with it. I would buy it again.
Is it worth? Only you...
