...and say they don't sell parts to non LSG owners, I would have been fine with that, and wouldn't have wasted both of our time this morning. They were on my list as a possible replacement for the MAK down the road( should it outright fail ), but I guess Yoder will go back to the top of that list.
Oh I get that. Mainly try to focus on companies like Yoder, MAK, etc.. where the significant components like the steel fabrication and assembly are done here, and preferably with domestic steel. The electronic/electrical components are just about impossible to get 100% USA made.
A few years back the "Made in the USA" discussion was had at great length and I believe the consensus was almost nothing is 100% Made in the USA. Some parts and pieces will aways be imported/globally sourced.
Internet info (just so we all know the source): Like many premium US-made...
I run a 640. One of the big advantages of the 640 is the fire pot on the far left side coupled with the adjustable slide baffle. So I suggest you play with that a bit.
If you push the baffle up close to the fire pot and have your meat to the right side of the grate then you kinda have the same...
...I'm also open to other suggestions. I have a budget around $1,800 maybe $2k tops. I was looking at a Recteq Flagship or possibly for a used Yoder YS640, but I'm not dead set on either. I'm definitely open to suggestions!
I do a number of larger cooks for friends and family (50+ people)...
I've looked at Recteq, but I'm pretty set on USA made only. If I had to replace it tomorrow, it would be a Yoder 640. Will definitely be keeping this MAK running as long as possible. It performs so well, and the basic chassis should last damn near forever.
A member recent thread just got a LSG pellet smoker. It looks pretty sweet. Dont have a clue what they cost though. I have a Yoder and love it. I use it more than the stick burner due to convenience. Only negative is cant change the pellets easily.
I went from an offset to an MES 30 ,,, talk about WTF .
Give yourself sometime to get used to it , and I bet you love it .
I have a smokefire . I do all the things you mentioned on the top rack , and a drip pan underneath the main rack . Lets the air , heat and smoke circulate around the...
Thanks, for that!!!
As far as heating up a large barrel, that really doesn't concern me, as I mainly only smoke in the summer, and we are often in the high 90s to over 100, and burning some extra pellets is not a problem.
I'm still on the fence on whether I want this one or not.
I have to...
I love my rec teq RT 700. its over 10 years old and runs like new everytime.
When I was researching my top three pellet grills were MAC, Yoder and Rec Teq. that was based on what I wanted and budget.
I’m not sure how many YS640 owners we have here, but if you have any questions on how it performs ‘real-world’ simply ask and I’ll do my best. Yes it’s pricey, especially with the accessories (the pizzas are outstanding!) but you’ll use it forever. With the 10ga steel, it holds well and is as...
...in. I have a week off between job changes and time to burn. When we bought the vacation lakehouse around five years ago during covid I bought a yoder YS640 so I had a smoker here and kept the lang in kc at our other place. Made it our forever home four years ago as kids were entering HS and...
First off congrats on a fine purchase and second, welcome to the forum. No experience with the unit you got, I just know its a good one. I personally run a Yoder YS640s.
In my opinion my top 3 pellets in order are Smoke Ring, Jealous Devil, LumberJack.
Dave
...you well. I have had my RT-700 for over a decade and still runs like new. When I was shopping for my pellet my top three pics were: MAC, Yoder, Rec Teq based on what I wanted.
The new Rec Teqs are pretty sweet and loaded up with way more stuff than mine came with. Customer service is the...
Hey Civil! Funday’s used to be normal, now it’s a victory🤣 thank you, It’s an amazing smoker, it’s worth saving a bit longer to save for the Yoder.
Thank you Brian! It was fun!
Thank you TKO! I think we’re through!
That sucks about LS: I guess I won't be contacting them today as planned. Really none of my busiess but have you considered RecTeq? The only information I have on them is my SIL and daughter have one and it performs as good if not better than my MAK. RecTeq also has a new model out that can get...
We are going to the in-laws. FIL will smoke the bird, probably on his yoder. I think we'll bring up some sides and a pie or 2. But pretty easy on our end. We'll be hosting Christmas at our house this year though.
...and seered about a minute per side. After seer, seasoned with W sauce as binder, montreal and cherry habanero rub.
TBS rolling on the yoder set at 230.
It takes a lot longer for a bone in PR than a boneless. This one took 4.5 hours. I had to bump up temp to move it along faster...
