    Masterbuilt problems

...I am still rather new to smoking Have an older masterbuilt smoker and have always had trouble getting temp down to 225. I have placed needle valve in the line which helped some. Planning on changing the regulator and would appreciate advise on required pressure. Any other suggestions more...

    Masterbuilt problems

...the sun. A single stage reg can have a hard time regulating a steady outlet pressure with large swings of inlet pressure. Even with the needle valve, mine was not able to maintain a low, steady temp. At lower temps, you may want to look into some kind of wind block so the low flame does not...

    Help

...It also goes way above temp sometimes before the flame just cuts out and doesn't come back on. I have had some luck leaving the bottom door cracked but it still goes out at some point. Any ideas? I am thinking about just bypassing the thermostat and using a needle valve to control temps. Thanks

Masterbuilt Vertical 2 door Smoker Mods

@BJMRamage the Needle Valve I installed is in line halfway to the stock valve/heat adjuster. I bought this one, but I am sure anything similar will work. I have read on this forum that the regulator on these units are low pressure, so search for the proper Needle valve on this forum. You are...

...the hour seasoning, I could never get it below 330. After reading this forum, I realized that I should change my regulator to one with a needle valve (?) inline. I set the smoker to lowest, the valve to almost off and the cylinder about 1/4 on. I'm using a 10" cast iron skillet. The only...

    Heating source for large smoker

Propane with a turkey fryer type burner with a needle valve installed after the regulator is working very well for me. Not really set and forget, but once everything is warm, setting the needle valve to a constant heat is pretty easy and I can leave the smokehouse for a couple hours at a time...

Added valves plus PID controller to propane smoker

Solman, Thank you for the response, it seems like I’m missing something though correct? It is that tired directly into the gas line in between the tank and burner and that’s it?

Thank you. I already purchased the cast iron pan 10" I think to use as my chip/chunk tray. For the needle valve inline thing...can you post a photo? Did you cut the existing line and add this or buy another hose line to attach? I'll look into it on google as well. It looks like I may need the...

Safe Materials to Build a Wood Smoker/Smokehouse

...where I place wood chunks to smolder and make smoke. This allows me as much as 50,000 btu’s inside the house to make heat, I installed a needle valve in the gas supply line to control the flame down low. Lining the inside with steel and framing with steel studs would be best for higher...

    My propane smoker mods

Here’s some pics of the AMNPS support box for cold smoking. The propane tank stays asleep in the smoking shed. I also have a needle valve on the hose by the end where it connects to the tank. But when I cold smoke, yes, it remains asleep as well.

Gas Control system with PID controller

...smoker with an automatic temp controller system. I don’t really know much about it and have been researching but most systems seem to be tied into existing factory made systems. Right now I’m using a stand alone propane jet burner with a needle valve. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi OldSmoke When you put all your needle valve parts together do you use any tape at all. I was using the pink teflon tape to put the adapter on my 100lb tank and one of my neighbor said you dont need any tape or putty on any gas lines am i wrong in doing so, thanks in advance David

It was around that time that we had our first child so I ran out of time to tinker with it. The plastic parts eventually...

Yes, with tapered pipe threads, you need a sealant. Yellow Teflon tape is used for natural gas and propane. If you are using flared fittings, you don’t use sealant.

Help needed for needle valve install on COS-244

...bought my first, a Cuisinart COS-244 vertical propane smoker.
