I purchased a recteq dual fire. I thought it was one of the more versatile units that I was researching. Looked hard at camp chef as well but the recteq just seemed to do more of what I want to do.

Welcome to the party. No experience with a Grilla platform. There are many brands of tubes to fill with pellets to add smoke flavor https://www.amazon.com/Pellet-Smoker-Tube-Stainless-Generator/dp/B07JGVBKN3?th=1

1st time Chuck Roast on pellet grill ? Still trying to figure out Pellet grills?

Temp is good, skip the smoke mode. I find it a waste of time. Smoke to an IT of 145 minimum then let it rest for 15 min. Pellet is no different than any other cooking, just an easy way to do it. Enjoy If you don't find it smokey enough you can add a smoke tube to future smokes.

In the market for a new smoker. Any recommendations?

I'm team RecTeq all the way. There are a wide variety depending on budget and their customer service is the best I've ever seen. If you are concerned about smoke, you can amazon a smoke tube for $10 that will add smoke and most smokers have a low heavy smoke setting. The two things I like...

In the market for a new smoker. Any recommendations?

HI! Grill choices: I almost got a used pellet grill, but then said why put good $ into a big Maybe it will last ? Not worth the risk of buying used electrics IMO ? I looked for over a year before buying one. As far as reviews go?: Traeger has many but are not the best? Grilla ships direct...

Choosing the best smoker for pork

MES 30 or 40 are great options. Especially like what @schlotz said with the mailbox mod or a pellet tube/maze

When I used mine I took the chip tray out and either used a pellet tube or tray. But no you don't soak the chips

I was wondering how it did . The SmokeFire really shines here . Fantastic smoke profile , especially on beef . I don't use a tube , because mine doesn't need it , but I always start mine at 200 . Then set it to smoke boost if that's what I want . Most times I just leave it at 200 and let it...

    Pellet & Charcoal Sales

I found pitboss pellets to be almost smokeless, pellets don't give off gobs of smoke at the best of times, but those were zero smoke. Good heat but defeats the purpose. Just my experience Corey

Just ordered a new Lone Star Grillz Pellet Smoker

...5 years now with no complaints. I've been getting them for $10/20lb bag. This is from a local dealer selling out of their home. I also use a pellet tube (https://www.amazon.com/Pellet-Smoker-Tube-Stainless-Generator/dp/B07JGVBKN3?th=1) to increase the amount of smoke flavor I get on my cooks.

    Pellet & Charcoal Sales

I'm a little late for this one, but I use Pitt Boss brand pellets exclusively and have had no issue with them. The competition blend 40 pound bags I get from wal mart are usually $15 so if you can get them for $12 , buy a few! FWIW, a 27 gallon tote with lid will hold (3) 40 pound bags.

Great FB Pellet Drive Function...Auger "Prime"

That's a great feature , and have wondered why they all don't have a manual / no ignition options to drive pellets . The SmokeFires run in reverse at the end of shut down . That clears the tube , but not the feed chute . It does have the pellet dump , but the chute has to be vac'd . I've...

Nova Lox for the Woman of My Dreams (WOMD)

Question for everybody, is there a too cold outside temp to cold smoke? Now it is teens to 20's F outside. Could I cold smoke this salmon on my weber or MB800 with a pellet tube and no heat?

    14 " WSM . Small but mighty .

Sure is . I was overloading it when I first got it , and wasn't giving it enough intake air . When I stopped over thinking that part , it works great . My first Kettle was an 18 " one touch . Way back in 1982 . I used to do all kinds of indirect cooking / smoking on that thing . Baked cakes ...

    Recteq guys.

Brian, that looks abso'freak'in'lutely delicious!!! If I can find Lumber Lumber Jack pellets around here, I'm gonna load up on straight hickory, and straight oak pellets. They really helped the smoke flavor using my old Camp Chef pellet pooper. Have you tried making a smoke bomb using chips and...

My corned beef was tuff this year.

All three cooks looked great. Knew you had to be north of me because I would have smelled the smoke. Think I must be only guy that smokes meat in Naples. Miss my pellet smoker in MO and been struggling holding temp with my propane pit and tube smoker.

1st time Chuck Roast on pellet grill ? Still trying to figure out Pellet grills?

I have a Grilla grill, it has a smoke mode? I am figuring its not going to have a heavy smokey flavor ? Maybe use if for an hour or 2? Then turn up the temp with no smoke @ the end ? To get a slight crust ?

Pellet or MES for pork butt

...do the MES with a pellet smoke tube or tray. I would also add chips to the feeder whenever I got bored for the extra smoke! Either or you can’t go wrong id you have both the pellet along with a pellet tube or tray inside would yield the same results as long as you smoke to 203-205* finished temp

    Smoker Recommendations - NOT charcoal/wood

...There are options. Is your smoking space limited to an attached patio or deck? A gas grill can be a very good smoking platform. I use a pellet tube (OK that may be stretching the NO wood rule) in an indirect heating meaning meat over burner 3 and only running burner 1 for heat. I use a...
