I've never made on anything else. I smoke it on my Yoder pellet smoker set to it's lowest temp. 150f. Usually takes 3-5 hours depending on meat thickness. And I rotate it is often. My Yoder runs a good bit hotter on the bottom rack.
I have this same exact setup. I vacuum out the ash from the burn pot in my Yoder and set it for 150°F for ~5 hours. Works great. I make a 5lb batch 2x a month. Starting with a clean burn pot helps ensure it stays lit.
...layer of Killer Hogs AP rub followed up by a generous coat of Killer Hogs BBQ rub. Man, that color is not filtered in any way.
Loaded the Yoder with Lumberjack 100% Oak (first time using this particular type of pellet) and locked in @ 275°.
Decided to make a few poppers. They were BOMB...
I smoked two 20 lb turkeys last Thanksgiving on my Yoder 640s. I did not have any issues bringing up to temp in time or space. It is 1070 sq in. I wouldnt smoke them at 225° but if it can get to 300° you won't have any issues.
...the same problem. To solve the problem I manufactured an elevated second grate to get the meat farther above the fire pot. This solved the problem but ultimately led me to buy a larger pellet grill with the fire pot on the side not in the center, the Yoder Ys 640 works much better as a pit...
I looked at the Blazn grills when I was looking at pellet smokers... they are impressive! Ended up going with a Green Mountain Grill, which the Daniel Boone is now called Peak. Partially the price and secondly I could drive 15 miles and pick it up. Been real happy with it.

My first pellet pooper and I figured go big or go home. Been planning this buy for over 2 years and finally pulled the trigger and just got it assembled. Should have some new posts for y'all soon!
I looked at the models of offset smoker just to educate myself. I understand they are more expensive, but he get what you pay for. I always buy once and buy right. I looked at the freight to get any of those units up to Idaho, and the cheapest shipping/freight is $800, so I’m gonna have to find...
...oak and cheery best. The offset produces much better results but at the price of your time because you have to babysit. Two thumbs down on traeger from me. Much better out there. Depending on how much you use it the price if pellets can add up too. I get wood free and still end up using the...
...day visitors. I have never done it before and had a cpl questions.
I like a light smoke flavor so how long to smoke? I will run the fan in my yoder with a tube of apple pellets.
Other question is after vac sealing do you let it age in the fridge or if put in freezer will the smoke still...
...own wood chips that can be mixed with the pellets, they don’t recommend using these chips in other pellet grills but they might work. I own a Yoder Ys 640, it’s a great pellet grill but the smoke flavor is mild, built like a tank though and a good pellet machine. Otherwise look to Req-tec as...
...to rise when it enters the cook chamber, then the stack at grate level pulls it across the meats.
There are other offsets, like Horizon and Yoder , that are " bottom up " . Air is funneled under a " convection plate " , can be seen here...
