Slot Mod
Problem with that is my food probes are the thermoworks needle probes and they are quite large at their base; I would have to have a pretty big hole. I'm not sure if I could feed them through jack first as its a 90 degree connector. That's why I was looking into alternative methods. -

Sorry. It where you cut a vertical slot through the top lip of the smoker just deep enough to make room so your probe wire sit in it without getting pinched by the lid. Top Grate Level?
How far down from the top of the pot does everyone place their first grate? I have seen a range of numbers, I'd just like to see what peoples personal experiences are. Right now I am thinking 4" down from the lip for the first grate. My second grate rests on the steamer ridge and my diffuser... -

I bought a chrome pot trolley I was going to use to set the diffuser on, after I take the wheels off obviously. Thanks for the idea, i came across your post the other day and have it down as an option. Here is a picture of the rails and clips id really like to use. Like I said the only issue is if there is enough room or a way to get the grate to fit past the installed rails. -
