Well this was a disappointing experiment. Even though I did smoke a nice pork shoulder using the test set up. It was very labor intensive and the burner from the BPS fish fryer was not precise enough to hold even temps. I spent most of the night adjusting the temp to try and keep it in the...
So I won a BPS propane fish fryer at a raffle years ago and it got buried in the garage unopened. Well with the forced vacation due to the pandemic I started cleaning the garage and found the cooker and thought how could I use it with my ECB. Here are the pics of my FrankenBrinkmann! I am going...
I found the link to the post about the lid seal, it was actually on this site. It is called the Redneck Tie!

Actually the lid seal is tied on not glued on. So I get some venting around the lid for now. I saw that way of doing the lid seal on another site for ECB mods. Planning on getting a set of Weber replacement vents and adding one in the future.
The chicken turned out nice and juicy although the rub recipe had a bit too much spice for the wife and I. I used a recipe that I found on Pinterest. The author must have really liked heat as there was a note to the effect that you could have cut the amount of cayenne in half to reduce the heat...
Well now that boating season in Michigan is slowing down. I decided to dig out the ECB and try smoking some chicken. I am not as prolific a smoker as most people here are so chicken will be a first for me. We'll see how they turn out.
Well my second try didn't go so well. Pork loin was nice and juicy but the rub I used was unappetizing and the loin was also bitter tasting! Oh well better luck next time!
Now that the boating season here in Michigan is done it's time to get the ECB out of the garage and do some cooking. I'm planning on doing a small 4-5 lb pork loin this Sunday. I'm figuring it shouldn't take more than a couple hours to be done.
Wish me luck, I'll share the results when it's done. :)
I haven't done much with my ECB yet. I set it up last fall and did a few mods to it. I did a pork butt on it and it came out great! I will be using it again this fall now that boating season in Michigan is done. Here is a pic of my set up and one of the pork butt I did last fall.
Hey there, yes I still have my ECB. I used it once last fall and it worked out great. I would have used it more but when spring and summer comes the wife and I practically live on our boat. But now that boating season is done I plan on doing some more smoking this fall.
Hi everyone,
New member here. I won an ECB at a bowling fundraiser a couple years ago and figured I might as well put it together and give smoking a try. I've still got to get a few items to do the mods to it. I'm hoping to try my hand at doing up some meat shortly. Anyway I just wanted to stop...
