Sorry to hear you had troubles. Based on several reviews, your issues do not appear common. I believe all grills have pros/cons. The searing function is attractive to me. If needed, I’d much rather mod the diffuser than add shelves and probes as would have been the case with the Traeger.

Thanks for the input.  I did purchase a new BC that I found on CL.  It's been seasoned and is ready to go!  Now if I can just catch some nice Striper, smoker will be put to work!  I want to start with fish, and if I like the hobby, I will probably get the SE from Bass Pro.
