    Rookie Irish woman building UDS

I'm new to the UDS myself but have been smoking with other smokers for a few years. My most recent smoker was a gasser. I still have it & probably will use it again when I tire of the UDS. If fall off the bone meat is your goal I'd recommend smoking the meat for 4 or 5 hours. Take them off put...

    What Kind of drum?

I'd imagine since they had oil in them, there would be no liner (that's a good thing) but they need to be burned & seasoned to kill any bad stuff in them & keep them from rusting,

The web page is at the bottom.JT says: July 12, 2013 at 11:17 am I bought a drum from you recently with the epoxy phenolic liner that I intend to convert to a smoker. I...

    multi colored high temp paint

I saw it on google image search. I've got a buddy that's a Star Wars Freak. He loves to bbq over charcoal. I thought this would be a great way to introduce him to UDS cooking. I'll get his family to chip in a little & give it to him for his birthday. Question is where do I get the multi colored...

    How much Charcoal

OK I've got my UDS done aside of adding the bottle opener. I tried to season it using a heating element from a Brinks electric smoker my folks bought me aq number of years ago. It only got to 170 degrees & didn't get hot enough to bake the cooking oil on. I finished my fire basket this morning...

    Stainless steel UDS

I like , practically everyone on this site. Have been kicking around building a UDS. With the variance of a stainless steel drum. I've done a bit of shopping looks like a used one will cost me about $200. I live in SE SC & the humidity does a job on anything metal. I figured stainless would last...

    Minimalist rub

I started the cook on the smoker, after I wrapped them up I put them in the oven @ 250. I can't see burning propane if I'm not making smoke. Then I put them back on the smoker. Sometimes I even put them in an oven bag instead of foil. Sorry for the lack of picks, really been stupid here lately &...

Leatherneck Roll Call.... All Branches Welcome!

I work on MCAS Beaufort now & have to listen to the wing wipers whine about going to CAX (2 weeks @ camp Wilson) we spent on average 5-6 months a year in the field. Our CO volunteered us for everything.

    Minimalist rub

Sometimes Less truly is more.................. A week ago I had a slab of baby-backs kind of an impulse buy.........they were on sale. Anyway I thought I'd try something different & since they were on sale if they weren't great less was to be lost. I didn't really want to go through the...

    More smoke!

Okay before I get into my question, here's what I'm working with. I built a side smoker using the mailbox mod with an AMNS . I attached a fan from an old computer to help transfer the smoke from the mailbox to the smoker (a master built propane 2 door model) Had some issues with keeping the AMNS...
