    Now I've seen it all!

We had a very low end Roomba clone for a while--it had been a gift. We didn't expect it to perform well, and it didn't. But it was great fun watching it confuse and annoy the dog.

    The BBQ Gun Thread

Beautiful rifle! M1 carbine trivia...Plainfield Machine in NJ was also a manufacturer of M1 carbines. During the Plainfield riots of 1967. Plainfield Machine was broken into and a bunch of M1 carbines were stolen. The rational response for.the state would have been to track down the thieves...

    Finally....Beercoal

I was going to say that charcoal is a waste of good beer, but I realized that whatever they are using to make it won’t be good beer.

    Throwdowns and such

I hear you...the last two days have been cold and rainy in North Idaho, and that crappy weather coincided with my two half-days of fishing. At least I've got 5 nice rainbow trout to show for it. Even better, I got to see an osprey fold its wings and dive from maybe 200' up, smacking the...

Chicken Thighs : Looking for a different cook ?

I heard him talk about those on his podcast, and knew I had to make them. They're really good... But I also have great luck with Jamaican jerk chicken seasoning (I use one of the dry rubs, and the skin comes out bite-through or close to it without having to do anything special before or after...

Rack of Pork and RFX Thermoworks Probe Carry Over Test....

A very timely post for me, as I also just received a Thermoworks RFX set as a Throwdown Prize, and I've had a Cosco rack of pork in the freezer with plans to cook it next week when I have relatives in town. Great to have a recipe for inspiration, and it looks like the RFX is even more capable...

    Throwdowns and such

I'm fine with the judges panel and the popular vote. The results of non-virtual BBQ contests are determined by a panel of judges, though they may also have a 'People's Choice' award to recognize entries with popular appeal. When the rules stipulate that an entry can't win both, it does help...

Plane nearly clipped the roof this afternoon.

No preliminary report on the accident yet, it might take another week. If you want to look up the NTSB report for this or any other accident, the link is: https://www.ntsb.gov/Pages/AviationQueryv2.aspx For this incident, just enter the aircraft tail number N626PB in the field labeled...

    Turkey in the Bronco Question

How big of a turkey? As noted above, Butterballs come well-injected with some solution--don't know offhand what it includes, but it should be on the label. Do go easy on the brine so you don't oversalt. Conventional wisdom is that one shouldn't smoke a turkey over 14 lbs if using low-and-slow...

    My Brazilian Themed TD Entry!

There are a lot of recipes out there (all pretty simple to make). I've mostly been using this one, in fact it was featured in my steak entry. https://cafedelites.com/authentic-chimichurri-uruguay-argentina/

    Throwdowns and such

I enjoy the throwdowns, have entered a few, and won a couple over the years. I think from the descriptions and the photo you can tell if an entry is something you really, really want to eat. As the competitive cooks always say, 'you eat first with your eyes'. Cut shots will show if the...

Out with the old deck - in with the new

That looks great! When we bought our house last year, the home inspector noted a number of issues with our deck, so we knew we'd have some expense this year getting the structural issues taken care of. Now with quotes coming in, most contractors say the deck is too far gone to fix, so it'll be...

Plane nearly clipped the roof this afternoon.

This is being discussed a lot on a pilot board on which I participate, but so far only a lot of speculation as to what went wrong. The National Transportation Safety Board should issue their preliminary report within two week, and I'll post it over here when I see it.

You're kids ever borrow something and ya never see it again?

My son the musician walked off with my turntable. A couple of suitcases went missing when the kids moved out. When the girls were still at home, we lost phone chargers seemingly on a weekly basis... It could be worse, I know.
