Thank you for your help and thank you especially for your service. I am in the Pittsburgh area if that helps.

    AMNPS or Tube Smoker?

I did not try lighting both ends on the AMNPS. I thought about it, but the Austin XL is new to me and I am trying to get things dialed in. I ordered the tube. Just hoping it makes some kind of difference. Fairly cheap experiment.

    AMNPS or Tube Smoker?

Thanks for this. I first used Pit Boss Competition pellets and am now using Lumberjack Apple. I also have a bag of Lumberjack Hickory ready to go. I smoked 2 pork butts with the Lumberjack Apple and just didn’t get enough smoke. I used the AMNPS as well. Just need more smoke!

    AMNPS or Tube Smoker?

Yeah, not enough smoke flavor at all. Extremely disappointing.

    Pork Belly cook time question

Thank you for that! That’s exactly the info I needed. Thinking of cold smoking another belly for an hour before I go to the smoker. Hoping that helps some. Thanks again!

    Pork Belly cook time question

The only other thing I can think of is the cure shrunk the thickness of the belly. It ended up being maybe an inch and a quarter thick.

    Pork Belly cook time question

I haven’t tried letting it run at the smoke setting which is lower than 200. But I still don’t understand why it would get up to temp so quickly.

    Pork Belly cook time question

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I was shooting for 150 per several recommendations from various sources.

    Pork Belly cook time question

Yesterday I smoked some pork belly in my new Pit Boss Austin XL. I set the temp to 200 because I wanted a longer smoke. I verified that the temp was at or near 200 for the entire time. The problem is, it reached 150 in an hour and a half! I was hoping for at least. 3 hour smoke. One thing that...
