Have a Char Broil Silver Smoker w/ Mods. Any fellow users of this baby know why there is a top vent on the firebox? I've played around with it while smoking and can't see why it would be used. Any thoughts?
Did "Mods" to my Char Broil Silver Smoker this summer. Similiar to your design. I would second above comments on tuning plates and change the baffle/diverter design. My baffle isn't angled or sloped. It forces the heat straight down and under adjustable tuning plates. My temps run 15 to 25...
Used Stubbs a couple time past summer when I bought a couple broken bags at Home Depot. They worked well.
I'm a big fan of Wicked Good lump and their Weekend Warrior Blend briquettes mixed together. Burns hot, long and clean. Search online for their info.
Thank you for the info. Smoking on a CB Silver too. Never thought of placing wood near fire to smolder. Have you tried Wicked Good lump charcoal? Great stuff lots of larger hunks. Did you do any "Modifications" to your Silver?
