I injected it with brown sugar, white sugar, kosher course salt, apple juice, and apple cider vinegar. Rubbed it with brown sugar, white sugar, kosher course salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, and crushed red pepper.
I cooked it at 225 for ten hours until it hit the stall. I pulled...
I know the feeling. I am kicking myself a little for not ordering the comp cart. It would be a cosmetic upgrade, unlike the smoke box.... But it looks cool.....
I really think so. The extra space for warming trays of beans, corn, even rolls is great. I also cook my fish in it. With the rec tec at 225, the top rack of the box runs at 160. I don't like high heat for fish as I think it dries it out. Plus, at 160 it takes 2.5 to 3 hours to hit 145...
Honestly, I have only seen a Memphis, a GMG Daniel boone, and my rec tec in person, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. For the price range, nothing can touch rec tec. There are better, of course, but they cost a minimum of 50% more. The Memphis is 400,%
I started out first night smoking eggs for smoked deviled eggs to take to a party. They came out amazing. Though next time I am just going to boil, peel, halve, and then smoke. I had a rough go peeling them.
Last night at midnight I put on a beautiful 11.5 pound packer. Added an 8 pound slab...
I should have said "searing kit" I call them grill grates because they put grill marks on them. I am sorry for the confusion. I just realized I was probably using the wrong terminology.
The searing grates are hard anodized aluminum, so they are nearly perfect hear radiators. They absorb and...
I am brand new to the smoking world, and only entered it due to the ease of pellet grills. I purchased a Rec Tec rt 700. I did a huge smoke on it Sunday. One of the things I made was brats. If you want to sear and get that good direct heat type char, you will need to purchase the grill grates...
When I was looking at grills, the fact that it has a light installed didn't even register as important. As soon as I started to cook on it and turned the light on, I realized just how handy it is to have on it.
Bacon wrapped pork loin, beer braised brats, onions and peppers for the brats, marinated chicken breasts, baked beans with pulled pork, corn with jalapenos. Also made wings and salmon, but they went on later.
How large a grill are you looking for? My opinion probably isn't worth spit, since my first smoker ever won't arrive until Thursday. That said, Rec Tec has some in that price range. I was researching for a while, and the price for feature ratio in my mind couldn't be beat.... But since I have no...
I just bought a Rec Tec RT 700 with a smoker box. It will be delivered Thursday. Can't wait.
So I have never smoked anything in my life, so I think I understood three words in that entire paragraph...lol. I had to have a pellet smoker after my buddy bigger a GMG Daniel Boone as made the best...
