lack of calcium is another way of sayin' your ph is off (a.k.a. too acidic) ..test the soil's ph , you can do it yourself with a simple kit or take it into a local co-op, they should be able to help you out
then add garden lime accordingly to balance your ph,
lime is basically ground...
how about instead of a smoker, i bet that thing would hold even temps and with a little tinkering you can use it to make fermented and/or dried sausages....
set the fire of your basket like the pic...then i take my chimney and add enough charcaol that would fill my little pan, i think that was around 15 briquettes?? light the chimney with paper and when the coals turn white, dump them into the bottomless pan, pull the pan out...this way hot coals...
