Thanks for all the advice. I’ll check the smell but will likely err on the side of caution. Especially since I’d hesitate giving it to others under the circumstances and 11 pounds is a lot for me to eat. My wife wouldn’t eat much of it under any circumstances. Not a big meat eater. Two years ago, I wanted to smoke a fresh ham, and the butcher wouldn’t sell just one half of the ham, so I just bought the whole thing and had them cut it in half.
