What I have been told when they sold the business they sold all the 1/2" stock they had etc and when NB ran out of the 1/2" material that's when they started building them with 3/16" material and started bolting on the fireboxes. 128077127996
Thank you! I stand corrected I thought for sure my information was correct as it was from a friend of mine who's father worked for OKJ back in the day. Anyway thanks again for the information.
Happy Smokin'
Joe Davidson sold the company to NB in 1998' then he wanted to get back into building them once again and started Horizon Backyard Smokers. Joe Davidson is a standup guy super friendly. When NB took over they started using the same steel as it was left when Joe sold the company but, soon...
Hello, you have a early 90's original OKJ-KD Smoker. The KD stands for Knock Down as this smoker you can remove the smoke stack, you can remove the front shelf, also you can remove the legs. It's still a solid 1/4" thick welded construction smoker your just able to remove those parts and pack...
No worries just given you a little insight, you can choke down the fire anyway you want too but, when a
chimney that is too short may produce insufficient draft (drawing of air). When a chimney that is too long may cause the air to cool before it exits, reducing effective draft and worse...
Regarding the 4" smoke stack for the OKJH using a 4" stack it should be almost 14.5" in length the 24" stack is causing to much air flow. Which in the end causing you to burn a lot more fuel/ wood charcoal etc.
something to think about.
Just have a quick question on the reverse flow smoker plate that you made or had made, what is the size of the plate depth and length. Thanks for all your help. If you want to email me that would be great. I picked up a OKJH about 4 weeks ago for $60 and was just gonna do some simple mods...

Okay let's see I bought the 1-1/2" air inlets pipes and the threaded smoke stack from a solved UDSparts.com. I believe they may of been the same ones you mentioned in your comment above. For me I couldn't see using 3/4" black pipe then have...
gr0uch0,
Thank you! Almost $30 into it but, yes very true I've seen the ones they sell for almost $80 online and just couldn't see myself buying one. Know it I didn't have the knowledge or tools etc to make my own then I could see someone having to buy one. Looking forward to getting this...
